Doctors Verses Pharmacists
Doctors Versus Pharmacists
Who would you trust more to prescribe medicine, your doctor or the phamacist?
While your family physician may know what the health problem is, would he be more knowledgeable about the prescription medicine he is prescribing for you, or the pharmacist? I think i would trust the pharmacist opinion, over my family physicians, as he would know more about the prescription medicine than the physician. Although your family doctor would know more about you and what drugs you can take, the pharmacist is more knowlegable in those drugs. I would be interested in your thoughts on this. I guess it could go either way, but over the years, i have come to rely on the pharmacist for help with my medications. In my opinion, they are certainly more educated in what is in those drugs and i trust them more, and they have access to all information on your meds….how do you feel, who would you trust more with yo\ur medicine, family doctor or the pharmacist?

Neither.
Until recently I’d have said the doctor, until some idiot quack at a local hospital managed to prescribe three times the maximum dose of a certain medication resulting in the need for a friend of mine to be rushed into a different hospital almost at death’s door.
The pharmacist
100% Pharmacist. On a couple of occasions my pharmacist has blocked incorrect dosage prescribed by a doctor which would of caused me harm.
Neither, only the drug salesman, besides he/she is the one telling both the pharmacist and the doctor what it does or doesn’t do. But according to the drug advertisements on the televisions, there are more negative side effects than the positive effects, so why bother to take the pill ; I’ll endure the pain instead. Ain’t modern medicine great!
Pharmacist……and on the point of medical matters who do you trust to take your blood pressure correctly, even when the same machine is being used……I could write a book about this issue….
Pharmacist, I worked in a Chemist and they know a lot about the drugs and also conditions.
Pharmacist
As a pharmacist, I think doctors who should prescribe medicine and the pharmacist recommend the time and the way to take it. Both of them are professional in his field, and their substantial priority is the patient and his health. Also, I would like to mention the responsibility of the patient when taking any drug, and not to trust in any professional 100% if you do not know him well. It is always be better to be aware of the medicine that is being taken.
I avoid taking any medication. I’m 77 now so i suppose I may need to take something or other some time in the future. Until then, eat healthy and keep smiling.
I live in the US and I am on Medicare. Healthcare is provided through an insurance company “Medicare Advantage” plan which may either be renewed year by year or you can switch to another plan with a different company. It is outrageously complicated. Recently I was notified that my plan will no longer include the primary care physician who has provided basic care for a decade. I was told I will need to get another PCP. When I called I was told that the PCPs available did not have any openings until July, 2026. Can someone tell me how the Canadian healthcare system operates? Down here in the states we are told we have a wonderful “state of the art” system, but that is obviously not true for everyone. As for the question, the answer is obvious: The pharmacist specifically studies pharmacology. Our doctors get their information from drug salesmen for pharmaceutical companies. Unfortunately patients must do their own research. Recently I was pxed a drug for atrial fibrillation. When I researched it I discovered that the drug was incompatible with another drug I had been pxed. Neither the physician nor the pharmacist advised me, but it was in the fine print on the two pages I received with the drug. No one seems to really care about the patient down here. It is all about the dollar signs. I hope you Canadians have a better system and human beings with more integrity.
