Why Things Happen

I have been posting about a minor storm and my coping with 26 hours without electricity. I also had neighbors come by and drag a large limb to the side, and by some good luck there were no cars parked on that day and time. There are almost always cars parked where that limb fell. The weather was mild, I had gas for cooking and I had neighbors. I went to church yesterday and heard the announcement of a member’s 13 year old son killed by a tree limb that fell on him. The 13 year old just happened to be under that tree at that moment. Maybe, he felt safer there than somewhere else. Randomness, or God’s will, I do not know, but I will learn what I can from my experience and I will learn what I can from the other experience. If there is a storm, try to get to safety, and after the storm, try to help and learn and be grateful, but please do not get too egotistical or blame any victims in any way for anything.

  1. This is a terrible trajedy for your church family, one which will be felt for a long, long time. Things like this just cannot be understood- sometimes causing people to turn away from their God. While others pull closer to him. Its an absolute reminder of the reality that we will never ever understand why things happen. Perhaps the #1 question God is asked when someone meets him for the first time. Why do people find the need to blame a victim? Maybe that occurs when they cannot understand it; or they are shocked that something has shook the very core of their beliefs. Learning from one’s experiences is sometimes a tall order, easier said than done. May God wrap his loving arms around your church family and bless all of you. HelenSophie xxx
