The Wonders of Blogging

Blogs are written to give enjoyment ,information or maybe even fun to the people that read them. this one is written to see what I can draw out of Senior Chatter members.

Ok here goes ..

I have read and heard people comment that they aren’t going to write blogs anymore because .

My views don’t match the norms so I am ridiculed.

People send me nasty messages .

Been called fool and other names.

Every time I write a comment there is always someone who gives back nasty or negative remarks.

Wonder if anyone really bothers to read them …..I wrote a blog on that myself.

There are other remarks that have been said about bloging on here but I am sure you get the idea .This is a Senior site surly people can have their say on here ,without feeling that they will be made to feel unwanted and wrong.
Come on its a free country we live in ,still able to have our opinion I hope. There are people from all walks of life on this site and from all over the world. We are never going to agree with everyone or have the same views,I know I certainly don’t,but I don’t go around making others feel bad because they have a different view to me,.
I also think people should start to let monitors know if they get these nasty messages,I am sure then if they knew people were going to send them on to faye or admin ,they will think twice before sending them.

I have written this hoping we will all think about it ,hope that people will feel free to answer this.Love to hear from you all on it don’t be afraid ill never stop blogging or send a nasty message so tell me your views.

love mac xxxxxx

  1. Hahahaha Mac…Im so busy laughing I forgot to read all that but I will….when i stop with the laughter. It seems it can only happen to you huh? Thought for a minute there you had taken Robs directions to have a title quite literally…heeheehee!!!!

  2. dont know if this is a joke or serious mac, if its a joke ha ha ha if,its serious why would anyone be negative about a blog its one persons opinion and they have a right to say anything wish within the guidlines,if it does not hurt another party, those who do make negative comments in a hurtfull way are probably negative people anyway, hope everyone thinks before they write in a negative or hurtfull way, love going out to all, please be kind to each other, life will be so much better for you . xxxxx.

  3. Hello Mac. Well you sure made sure nobody could miss this one! πŸ˜†
I love reading the blogs and comments and am starting to see that in fact a blog can be a way to start a discussion rather than just an enjoyable or informative read. When we talk to people we don’t always agree with what they say and we have, I believe, the right to say that we think differently. However, even if we do have a different opinion, it should, in my opinion, be voiced politely. If I say “black is white” I’ll get, if I’m lucky, a few comments. Maybe – You’re wrong – you must be colour blind – how much did you have to drink last night? – or – you silly old bag, go buy yourself a new pair of glasses etc. The answer and my reaction to it will be different depending on who says it. We talk to friends differently than we do to strangers. Could part of the problem come from that? We feel we’re talking to friends and are a litle more familiar with our choice of words? So far I haven’t received any nasty comments but then I haven’t really written a blog as such yet. Maybe I will and title it “Life Sucks” (to use a youthful expression). I can’t write one called “I was gay once” because of the definition of one of the words. Certainly people should never be abusive and send nasty messages but perhaps they don’t always mean it the way it comes out. If they do then certainly the person it’s addressed to should react the way he or she feels fit.

      1. LOL. Well I’d probably get banned or kicked or kicked out or whatever punishment that would be considered proper. Have to be careful what I do, don’t I? Hahaha x

  4. I have never seen a blog where someone has written a comment who has become verbally abusive, yes I’ve seen the odd niggle people have but imo it’s because we’re all different, and tbh most are able to ‘come back’ so to speak, I think it’s great we are able to add our ‘comments’, and on the whole I think we don’t mean to upset anyone, we are all different, different cultures, different languages, sense of humour….etc…
However, a nasty personal email which is sent to ‘an other’, and where the recpreient finds it upsetting, threatening, uncomfortable, or just plain rude then absolutely, copy paste and report…….
I love sometimes reading controversial blogs!
~ agree merver…when you starting the Gay blog lol

    xx

    1. Debz I have heard a person very upset about the remarks that they have received after commenting on a blog. I agree we can all make our comments on here and can disagree but think constructive critisisim is the way.

  5. hahaha mac… yep folks have opinions yep folks voice or should that be type em too…yep ive bin on the receiving end and yep ive fought back…all politely of course hahaha!!! even if they weren’t polite to me!!!! me personally…if i like sommat or think its good i say…if i strongly disagree…i pass by…i would not hurt anyones feelings by makin nasty rude remarks, but thats just me lol!!!! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

  6. Thanks pollie but you are one very nice person ,sorry you have been on the receiving end of some people’s nastiness . Maybe by reading this blog they will think differently from now on ,lets hope…..

  7. Its sad when it becomes necessary to post a blog like this, but I admire you for it, Mac. Its too easy to type a message and in a chat room where the pace is fast, sometimes there is no time to think before those fingers get a tapping!! and before you know it, you write something that upsets someone. You may type in response to MrA, but MrsB thinks your replying to her. It can become a huge misunderstanding. What we type has no tone and no facial expression. Its hard to tell if someone is being serious, sarcastic, funny or abusive etc. and much depends on how we react to it. If we are in a sensitive mood, and something said in fun, it might be taken the wrong way, and be upsetting. The answer is to remember this is Chat site for Seniors. Dont take anything personally. What anyone says is not worth loosing sleep over. All you can do is try not to offend anyone, and understand that we are all allowed to have our own opinion.

And that my friends…….. is my opinion Lol πŸ™‚

  8. Good blog mac. I find that some people could read 99 good comments and if there is only one bad comment, they will dwell on it. You have to account for extremes and go for the average.
I value the comments of all seniorchatters. I would rather hear what you think, than what you think that I would want to hear.
