The Terrorist and the Mad Pup

My son has acquired a puppy. It’s a chiwawa/jack Russell cross. Small, black and white, energetic and entirely insane.

This afternoon we decided to try to socialise the little monster by taking her for a walk with my terrorist.

All went reasonably well while they were both on the leads, except that the pup would insist on leaping at my terrorist. The terrorist is 11 years old now and didn’t much appreciate that yoo much, but she was a good girl and kept her teeth to herself.

Once they were off the leads, however it was another story. The pup went mental tearing round my terrorist at high speed, slowly reducing the circle until they were face to face.

One again the terrorist behaved and merely came out with a low growl and walked on.

The last straw for the terrorist was when the pup decided it would be fun to pull the old girl’s tail. That did it! The terrorist rounded on her, chased her growling and snapping and, surprisingly, she caught the pup, grabbed it, gave it a damned good shake and then, with a toss of her head, lobbed the poor little sod about two metres.

Needless to say, the pup wasn’t too keen on this and decided to retaliate. Big mistake. She may be smaller, faster and turn better, but the terrorist has been around longer.

As the pup tore into the attack the terrorist merely charged back at her and, being heavier and bigger, just bowled her over and then held her down by laying across her.

Final score for the day:- Pup = 1, Terrorist = 2

Pup is now treating my terrorist with a little more respect. I wonder why?

  1. Awwww Way, wonderful Friday afternoon post (for me its the afternoon) for you the evening. Nice late afternoon break in my workday. Very cute, and too true. Enjoy your weekend. HelenSophie

  2. My Chloe got chased off the porch by a geriatric Dachsund yesterday. Now Chloe is no longer the Queen of the Mountain. My terrorist never backed down from a fight. One day she jumped a Sharpai who chose our mailbox to pee on.After busting him up she went over to the post and peed on it herself to erase his scent. I love your terrorist blogs. They bring back good memories of a special little dog named Odie.

  3. oh way..i hate to admit it but you make me laugh with your terrorist reports…..just picturing it all makes me laugh out loud..give your terrorist an extra treat..she sure deserves it for just sitting on the little snot instead of pushing her into on coming traffic…lol

  4. you have a chiwawa/jack russell mix. Can there be a more energetic, in your face dog, than those two breeds together. Second of all, your 11 year old dog needs dignity. He/she is old, and just does not like the way the youngster is behaving. Dang, would you? Your little baby is behaving exactly as a puppy should behave. And your old gal, well, she needs a rest from these well meaning but totally out of control pups. Let the old girl take a break from these monsters. I have a pup as well, so a commiserate

  5. Sounds as if you had a fun Friday, Way- I’d have taken bets the terrorist would have come out on top of every situation!
Little Alfie is about 6 inches high, but is prepared to take on anything- from huge delivery vehicles to the massive but softie Newfoundland who lives up the road. Littlle dogs seem to possess a Napoleon syndrome, and the older Alfie gets, the dafter he becomes, he’ll be a puppy forever,….God help us.

  6. Well Way,…i have one of each, rosie the chihuahua, and jack my jack russell,……………………..jack is 5 rosie is 3,…….they both have great characters, never a dull day with those 2,…it will be good for the pup to be around your girl,as she will teach her doggie manners,LOL….i wish you both luck, cause some how i think you are gonna need it!!,LOL.

  7. Good blog, Way. If only people would learn from their dogs…maybe there would be a bit more respect shown without the need for real battle. Just give a good shake, then sit on them. Works for me.
