The day the US penny died-and chains.

I just found out the U.S. Mint will no longer make the U.S. penny. At the grocery store, they are “rounding out” to the nearest 5 cents. And the U.S. coin, the Nickle (5 cents) is on life support and is not expected to make it. What’s strange is the penny is worth more just as metal then as a coin. It also occurred to me that I’m making a very gross fashion faux pas, I don’t own a neck chain. Back in my ancient disco days, I had a Taurus chain -it was mandatory attire. It’s someplace????? Apparently, to be properly attired in 2025, one needs a gold chain around your neck. Of course, the bigger the better, or at least multiple chains. Any other metal than gold is frowned upon. Some fringe elements wear silver, but they are considered heathens by the gold wearing mainstream.  If only I could remember where my Taurus pendent is. Who knew I could be hip fifty years later with the same Taurus pendant.

  1. Fuzzybuddy, I have heard that pennies may be discontinued and I guess the merchants round up so I would not use cash with a merchant who does that. So far, I have been using pennies. As for a pendant, You need to look for it, or look for who stole it. I have lost track of some things and I have had jewelry stolen.Good luck with finding it.

  2. I think all cash is doomed in the long run. I will admit to finding small coins a pain when travelling. Im in Tunisia, a Dinar is worth 25p English 1/4 of a pound. They then break a Dinar into 1000 milimes. The smallest coin being 5milimes. 0.125 of a uk penny. 🤯

As to neckware. We have never been fashion aware. However I have been wearing my golden foot that my husband bought me to mark our travels over 50 years ago. He is still wearing his smiling face he has had since before my time (no woman involved Im told). Sadly his smiler has been overtaken by the drug scene. They were innocent times. When a rainbow was just beautiful with no polical statement. I could get myself in trouble these days without trying. 😂
