Taxes, A Happy Thought

The more taxes you pay the more money you made that is the happy thought, but it can feel like being sucked down a drain. While working on my taxes, I didn’t see the MORE MONEY. I just saw the TAXES being paid and I worked all day trying  to plug a leak and not have more money sucked down the drain. I also thought of so much money and how it is spent. If the poor were helped and the sick cared for, I would be happy to pay the tax, but I know that a whole lot of money goes to those who need it the least and is also wasted with a lot of corruption.

Death and taxes the two abominations of life, but they both may be needed and better than the alternative. Some of my taxes does help the needy and that is a happy thought. We have a tax credit for low income people. they get a check back from the government. That was another happy thought as I browsed the tax book.

I studied my taxes and the more I gave to charity, the less I gave to the government but next year under Trump’s plan that won’t happen. The automatic deduction will wipe out individual deductions in most cases. If people are not encouraged to give to charities, what is the world coming to!!!

By understanding my taxes, I understand that there is almost nothing I can do at my age to change the tax, but some people could maximize savings and lessen the taxed amount. We all need to know about taxes or more money willed be sucked down the drain.

Another happy thought, just take life and work easier because the more you work the more they take.

  1. Taxes! I hear you Roseinbloom LOL. I hear commentators saying that US tax forms are the most complicated and that it takes days to fill the forms in. I would not know how true this is but an hour or less, on line would suffice for the average Canadian.
I have Swedish and Danish friends living in their countries and they seem to universally, not to mind paying their taxes and bare in mind that they are said to be the highest taxed people. So how can this be? Well I have not lived in either of these countries so I don’t have personal experience only what my friends tell me. I know…..Grass is always greener on the other side etc but it does seem to me Danes and Swedes receive a lot for their taxes. Free childcare from baby to adult. Long maternity leave, free medical care. I understand that you pay something like the first $300 of a yearly bill for medication after which it is free. Same sort of arrangement for dentistry and glasses, physio’ and such. At a certain age you are entitled to free help in maintaining your home and house cleaning. Most of us pay taxes and seem to get little for it, even the infrastructure of our communities is lacking replacement or repair. Our services are cut back but taxes increase. We all have stories of taxpayer’s money wasted on crazy schemes. We also hear reports of politicians of all kinds who milk the system to enrich themselves. Politicians pass wage freezes on workers but some how also manage to vote in pay hikes for themselves. We all have the feeling of being ripped off and this makes paying taxes painful.

  2. Always keep in mind….we must pay our taxes and we must die. The more you withhold, the more you will pay…..and vice versa, right? Must be careful using those loopholes. We have 3 CPA’s in our family who show us the simplest way. Pay “Uncle Sam” and get on with life. And P.S. The more you have the more difficult it is to do your taxes?
