I joined an online chat , Senior Chatters was it’s name
The idea seemed appealing as I was tired of playing games
I was a trifle anxious , all this was strange you see
I waited and soon a whole new world was opened up to me
So many kindly faces of folks I’d never meet
Suddenly we were chatting
As if we’d all met up in my street
There are groups to join , quizzes to take and blogs also to compose
All this to do and then you watch your friendships bloom and grow.

I share and underscore your thought and feelings. I am not new to chatroom sites and have seen many appear and disappear over the course of the last 20 years. SC seems to be now what chatrooms were from the beginning.
Having a place where a person, regardless of gender, can go and socialize, listen to music, watch a video and other things are as important as going out to the local coffee or tea shop on a sunny afternoon.
Being older now and alone, I do not fancy the loud tones, pushing crowds and wildly blinking lights of discos, as they were once called, Or the dark smokey confines of a pub. Here we can be comfortable in our home, office or even garden and enjoy bantering laughing or in some cases heal with others.
To me, this site is special in that I am able to be with others close to my age group, from all over the world. thank you for pointing this out for us.

Could not have said it better myself – Scorpio and HS1 – I have been involved in a couple of other
sites – but none as comfortable and welcoming as SC — which some years ago I literally ‘stumbled across’ looking for an organization I was involved with –( Senior Resource Centre In St. John’s Newfoundland) – in the early hours (UK time) ! – doing the ‘Owl Prowl’ —- Best mistake I ever made me thinks!
People do come and go, as with other sites – but there is a core of good, kind, supportive people here.

After my wife passed, I did not want or need any contact. I did not hate anyone, I was just fed up and tired. I pushed myself into my job and my love of the air above me and the open sea. I was not waiting for death to touch me, more just not living. Then for no other reason but curiosity, I googled chatrooms sites and was immediately bombarded with hits.
Nothing fit my taste or filled even close my expectations. Reality, truth, and Honesty were nonexistent. Comfort, security unheard of. I am a sailor and have heard words and phrases that no Gentleman would use. And I was appalled by the garbage that was used. Thank the Computer God, there was a delete key and I made fast use of it.
The last on the list was SC. I checked the IP security, read the recommendations, and was impressed by the way that the site was presented. I thought to myself ok, let’s see what’s shaking. Car salesmen hate me with a passion!!! I not only test drive but I look under the hood, kick the tires, and even smell the oil stick for signs of burnt parts. A trick I learned from my Gramps
Well to make a long story short, After several hours of chatting, I became convinced that maybe I could find a place here.
Thanks to you Scorpio, Golden, Tania, Grandmaj and others, my heart warms again. I truly feel like I have found my campfire and can sit on my stump smell the tinges of smoke and watch the flames dance and in the back part of my mind voices of my new found friends…
Hi there Scorps……. I joined the site 5 years ago because I was curious…..hard to believe but I didn’t know what chat sites were……..I had been reading my girlie mag as you do, and came across a article a women had written about how she had been conned on a chat site, well curiosity got the better of me and Mrs Google threw me some chat sites up…..Senior Chatters was the one I ventured into after reading the recommendations……pleased to say I have never been conned……..the scammers are vanished after the first………How are you my dear…….how old are you…..are you married…….do you have money in your bank….lol…….enjoy the site Scorpio…..
I am so pleased that you have found SC, you are all good people,I love the blogs you all do, and I will venture into the chatroom, just as soon as I build up the courage, Thank you all…..yes Scorpio hope you continue to enjoy the site.
It is great to see so many appreciative comments on blogs -there will be many more who, like me have a daily routine that actually starts with Chatters – like many of you I am really most interested in the Blog Site and m doubly pleased to see new names appearing as well as our regulars whose efforts are always appreciated, Thank you!

Great blog Scorpio. I have been on this site a few years, and have had breaks only because of hospital stays, but I will always come back. As everyone has said, this is a wonderful site for us oldies, and I have made some very special friends, their friendships I truly treasure. I am sad that some of the friends I made earlier on have left the site, but it is only natural that some will stay and some will go.
I thank Rob and the Administrators for keeping this site safe and entertaining for all concerned. Long may it reign !!!
