  1. I agree with @oldbull, I had the greatest respect for Mrs. Thatcher. She was indeed a very strong leader, the best we had during my life time.

@padraig1, no one is obliged to join in with a “political” thread.

  2. Living in the Uk at the time I can only be honest out of respect for her as human being and say I was not a fan of her politically. But she was a Mother, a wife, a friend and many things to many people. I was sad to hear she had Dementia, such an insidious disease. I hope she is at peace and the end came swiftly.

  3. She lived up to her name…” The Iron Lady”. R.I.P Mrs Thatcher You did what you had to do for our country…some off which i didn’t agree with, but you were not lilly livered and that’s what made you the best Prime Minister we ever had, or ever will have again.

  4. try telling that to the kids of the poor in this country or the miners family who starved i didnt wanna get into this she also used scotland as scape goats for her ill fated poll tax the iron lady as she was called killled hundreds in the falklands argentina and in ireland she was the only prime minister I know that started a war to stay in power am sorry but most of u paying tribute didnt have to suffer like we did

  5. I have been watching a lot of her Political career on TV, when she came into power in 1979 I was 21, I have to be honest I never knew anything about her politically…
.I then lived overseas from 1981 to 1999, so her ‘politics’ didn’t really affect me so much, however I do remember watching the riots the Poll tax caused, however, as I am from down ‘South’ I have been most surprised as to how much the Northern Industry was affected and suffered, so it has been quite an eye opener for me.
Like Catraoine said ‘ sad to hear she had Dementia, such an insidious disease’

  6. i agree with the majority of comments on this post OB..she was the best thing to ever happen to britain and may she rest in peace…when she came into power the unions were ruining this country.. she was brilliant!!!!

  7. am sorry Pollie try telling that to the starving kids especially here in scotland and all the dead kids etc in the places i mentioned earlier and my cousins wee boy who never knew his father

  8. we all have our own views padraig and are entitled to air them. if pollies or anyone views are different to yours then so be it. your views should not be directed at one person.

  9. I have to agree with Pollie and most of the other posts on here that the
late Mrs T , was a good PM doing a tough job the best way she could …after
all the country was in a right mess before she came in power ….One comment
on the “starving kids” i dont remember seeing the papers and tv full of it so were there
many if any dead children ???

  10. Nor did i Eddy. Her funeral is tomorrow Wednesday…bet the protesters will be doing their up most to cause trouble again. Arther Skargill was unfit to be the Unions leader, the idiot brought the minors out in the summer time!…think about it!!!.

  11. her funeral is next Wednesday shads and yes you are right on the fact that there will be protesters and about arthur Scargill.. i agree totally on all of that… the actual post was to ask what we thought of maggie thatcher and not about politics but it seems politics got dragged into this… i never heard of any children dyin or starvin to death either eddy nor was it published in any papers or on the TV?? as regards maggie herself.. i thought she was a brilliant leader and a very formidable womanwho wasnt swayed easily and knew what she wanted…a bit like me really haha!!!! 🙂 🙂

  12. Magaret Thatcher was the best Prime Minister that England has had since the war…People have their own opinions but as for dancing in the streets for someone who has died in my mind is sick only my opinion……..R.I.P.Magaret Thatcher.

  13. our schools locally had chicken wire preventing wire preventing plaster falling on children’s heads—-such was the neglect .
We are still suffering for the crass mistakes made during the Thatcher era
Particularly over banking and demutualisation of building societies etc and sale of council houses .
