I think I may have spoken to soon when I said that the best feature of senior chatters is “no Ads” popping up at you trying to sell you something !
Well ads are subtly appearing on the site these days , at least they are for me here … And then there’s this “Mem Trax ” (MemTrax – Online Memory Test ” ) has this member paid a fee to advertise his business on here or is he sneaking in through a small opening to take advantage of the thousands of over 50’s on here . Many of whom fearing memory loss and senility ?
I wonder if others have noticed it …or is it just me ?
Ive not noticed nmod, but then Im not the most observant person out here!!
Although I have been having a problem when changing pages, but that might be because Rob is experimenting with changes.
I will keep an eye out for ads, and let you know.
Thank you Polly … I am very observant I’m afraid …Some times to my own detriment lol …I would hate to be seen as a self appointed watchdog lol … I’m happy with Faye’s and Rob’s explanation to my concern 🙂
My apoligies Nmod. I checked Memtrax when he first registered and didnt do another check later on. He has since been deleted for advertising on his profile.

The tenancy agreement we previously had with Engage Mutual has now ended, so instead of their banner being displayed on logged out pages we now are using Google as a replacement, which should be more tailored to peoples browsing habits. So to answer your question, Nmod, there are very few ads shown to logged in users. This has not increased, they are just different that’s all.
Thank you Rob , is that I haven’t noticed them before ! …at the moment they are perhaps more “visible “than before … The square were the ads appear is small and not intrusive as yet … The content in it changes often making it more visible I guess ! Thank you for your reply … Much appreciated 🙂 🙂
You’re welcome, that’s right, you are noticing it more now because the ad changes. I think the technical term for it is something like ‘Banner Blindness’. Where you become so accustomed to how something looks over a period of time that you don’t visually recognize it’s there any more. As the previous ads didn’t change, I guess this is what’s happing here.
n.mod, I did notice memtrax but i thought that might be coming through facebook, didnt think for a moment it came from here, i have read fayes reply and that is the conclusion to that .I am getting the ocaisonal add on my sidebar , howver i don ,t think they have anything to do with chatters, think they are sneaking on through yahoo, so I have deleted yahoo, sticking with GOOGLE.since i deleted yahoo i am getting hardly any addys.
I must be unconscious…never noticed it before, haven’t noticed it now. Too busy checking out everything on SC! LOL…..
