i wrote these lyrics for a friend who loved scotland, never heard it sang to music except for in my head, hope you like it

Blessed Land

I see myself a walking
Through the valley shaded green
And I can smell the sweetest heather
Growing by a bubbling stream
My heart starts beating faster
I can feel it in my chest
As I dream my favourite dream
Of the land that God has blessed

The mountains stand before me yeah
They reach up to the sky
And I can hear the sound of eagles
As they call to you and I
And if I close my eyes
There’s one thing I confess
I’m walking in the meadows
In the land that God has blessed

Scotland oh Scotland
I hear you call my name
I hear the sound of your sweet voice
Saying come see me again
Scotland oh Scotland
To me there’s no contest
You are the land I love
The land that God has blessed

I can hear the sound of pipers
As they whisper on the breeze
The sound of drums a beating
Kilts blowing around the knees
And I know one day I’ll be there
For to be there is my quest
To walk in fields of green
In the land That God has blessed

The kilts and the tartan yeah
The smell of malt whiskey
The sound of the pipes
As they play so beautifully
My heart it starts a soaring
As high as an eagles nest
As I dream my favourite dream
Of the land that god has blessed

Scotland oh Scotland
I hear you call my name
I hear the sound of your sweet voice
Saying come see me again
Scotland oh Scotland
To me there’s no contest
You are the land I love
The land that God has blessed

So here I am a dreaming
Of that land so faraway
And I can see the bonnie lasses
In the heather above the brae
And I know inside my heart
If the lord hears my request
I’ll be walking in those meadows
In the land that he has blessed

Scotland oh Scotland
I hear you call my name
I hear the sound of your sweet voice
Saying come see me again
Scotland oh Scotland
To me there’s no contest
You are the land I love
The land that God has blessed

Yes you are the land I love
The land that God has blessed

  1. I really loved this bugs. Made me think of my Grandad and the stories he would tell of his beloved homeland. He never did get back home, for me your story gave me a piece of his early years. TY very much.
