HORRENDOUS WEEKEND FOR SOME!
I tried to go to my home town this morning as the AA said that roads were clear.Well got as far as Muncaster and the roads are closed after 20ft drifts.I was told you will not get there even via the motorway.Saw the height of the snow on the roadsides it was higher than any car.
Some ppl were trapped in their cars on Friday night for up to eight hours as the emergency services could not see to reach them.
Thank God all got out safely. These were the worst blizzard conditions since 1940.

Gosh Ann you’ve had it so bad up there, happy you got home ok ~ x ~
…. it’s bitterly cold out though, it says its -1 and feels like -9 and brrrr it sure does..keep warm everyone experiencing the cold and keep safe, layer your clothing, that’s what I do when I go out 🙂 xx
Thanks Debz.. we actually never got the snow we were a pocket that it missed but is was within four miles of us in any direction we took.I agree it is bitterly cold out.
This has been a harsh winter for many of you. Please take care. Try to stay warm and dry…and healthy. We want all of you to enjoy Spring when it finally arrives! Love, Jackie xxx
I know Jackie we will all be glad when spring finally arrives..we are forecast very cold weather this week.below minus tonight so very cold…Love Ann xx
This is about the third bad winter on the trot in UK. It’s been bad enough where I am down south, but the north of England and Scotland have had it pretty bad.
I don’t know if you’re aware, Debz, but the reason it feels colder than the given temperature is wind chill factor. It feels 1 degree colder for every 5 knots of wind speed (approx).
If you have to go out in it I’d strongly advise wearing a warm hat as about 20% or more of body heat is lost via the head.
Thanks way, i didn’t know it had to do with the knots of wind…..but yes pretty breezy down here… I do wrap up warm, people laugh at me but I don’t care..thermal boots, socks, ski pants, jacket and fleece topped with a warm fleece fluffy hat!!!…all topped off with gloves and a scarf…. yep I get laughed at but if massive traffic jam, breakdown…I’ll be able to cope….
I thought you were up North?..agree those poor people without electric, and the amount of animals which have probably perished … 🙁
xx
lambs are perishing Debz, it only takes 30 mins for Hypothermia to set in poor things..also thinking of the farmers.
🙁 xx
Oh ann, glad you got home safely and people trapped in their cars got out safely, I can only imagine what it is like xxxx
I heard UK had got it bad, but ddn’t realize it was THAT bad. UK is not able to handle that much snow. Hope they learn for next year.
If the UK gets one flake of snow Polly everything grinds to a halt but this amount?Well they were warned is all I can say…it has just started snowing here this morning Yuk
Thank you Skippy xx
Oh ann it is impossible for us who don’t know what it is like to live with snow to imagine it all – we think it looks beautiful but obviously it is very hazardous. Like care ann and stay safe xoxox
Take care…..
