History repeats itself because generations do not remember the past. The “intelligent species“ is not as smart as it presumes itself to be. The advances in technology and science do not outweigh the results of continued observations of man’s inhumanity to man. The play remains the same, only the props change.

    I do agree.
    We did not learn from the mistakes of the past. Historic recurrence is amazing.
    Napoleon and Adolf Hitler demonstrate how History repeats itself with, for example, the same military miscalculation, underestimating Russia. Millions of victims died on the altar of their greed for power !
    We, so called civilized, are not that different from the cavemen, even rather worse.

  2. This true, it is assumed evolution is an improving process, but evolution can be retrograde if the environment does not take into account the journey taken to get there. Past learnings are lost and actions are determined by the immediate reality not by memory or a collective history.
