Father’s Day Thoughts from the Heart

First and very importantly, I wish a wonderful Father’s Day to all of you dads, grandads and great granddads! I have seen, at least through your friendship here, what strong, wise and caring men so many of you are. Your children are greatly blessed to have you. You are lots of FUN too, that’s important!
Father’s Day is difficult for some people. It was a hard day for me for very many years. I’ll spare you the details, but God brought a lot of healing to my heart over time. So, it’s been better for quite a while. It helps to know that my husband is a very good Dad to our kids. Now we have a granddaughter to spoil and love too!
A couple of days ago, I went card shopping. It proved to be more difficult than expected. You see, my step-dad and I have been taking baby steps recently to rebuild our broken relationship. (He raised me from the time I was age 8) Finding the right card for him was not so easy….
(I had a very pleasant phone conversation with him yesterday. Thankful.)
Of course, all the cards that were for “Brother” really stood out to me, even though I wasn’t searching for one. July 11 will be two years since I lost Darrell. He was 3 years younger than me. He had four girls, the youngest is 14 now. One of his girls just had another baby. Bittersweet,. It’s a tough weekend for them, much more difficult than for me.
My best Father, my Heavenly Father, has been taking good care of us through everything. I am letting Him in again more and more, after a while of spiritual crisis and disillusionment. This after being a Christian believer since I was a child. No, I never lost my basic faith. I questioned many other things though, and I still do. I do not doubt His love, forgiveness and grace though. I am sure of His care for me. So, those are huge gifts for me, this Father’s Day.

  1. Very lovely post kay, and Happy Fathers Day to all celebrating tomorrow, enjoy your precious family.

I walk past the cards and feel so sad as many must do who have lost their fathers and other family members. I write a note on special occasions and put it in the family Bible with all Dad’s bits and pieces, that helps.

(((((hugs))))) kay and more (((((((hugs)))))) to all who are celebrating their fathers in their heart xxx
