Dark skies

dark skies

Gazing from within through raindrops down window run

Dark, gloomy, nothing moves today, no sign of sun

Rain, yet more rain from that dark forboding sky

Squirrels, birds, where are they I cry

Leafless, stark the trees stand, tall and bare

Winter, cold and bleak, yet spring awaits I declare

First the leaves on the ground lay for man to clear

Pond netted against leaves that fall, heron will appear

His feed, my fish from his gaze are hidden

No easy catch here, look elsewhere, here it’s forbidden!
