Cold Weather

Cold weather, really cold weather doesn’t come to Louisville, Kentucky USA often, southern, south eastern part. We usually don’t get bitter cold as defined by near zero Fahrenheit and we don’t get much snow. It doesn’t snow often and we usually get under four inches. Well, we are due for bitter cold and snow again. I have just located my electric car blanket that plugs into the car and I just need to find my adapter for home electrical use and I will be all set. My sympathy is with all those coping with frigid temperatures and tons of snow, and maybe you will share some of your strategies for coping. Here in Ky USA we stock pile and wait for the weather to change mostly but the electric car blanket helps a lot. I know our Aussie friends are now coping with 100 degrees fahrenheit about this time, so they may have trouble even remembering what real cold is. You know that weather is a big factor in all of our lives, so I am sharing mine and I love to hear about your weather in your parts of the globe. Taking a plane ride is always a good coping idea.

  1. Rose, It went down to 8 degree’s last night here in Batlimore , Md. We have not had this cold of a winter since 2010 I think they said on the news . I know that you are right that it usually is not that cold down in Louisville, Ky. We had 2 or maybe 3 inches of snow on Thursday here and it is not suppose to warm up for awhile up here to melt the snow that we have. So I am not going out today and probally not tomorrow or Monday. I do have a Dr. appt. on Tuesday and hope Tuesday will be warmer if it isn’t I might cancel the appt. So do take care down there and don’t go out unless you have too ok. Marie 🙂

  2. 5 below zero here yest in NJ, Rose.. snow and freezing rain and lots of trouble getting anywhere.. and if that wasn’t enough our heater died in the morning. Luckily it was only a bad sensor which needed to be replaced, but it took half of the day and made me think about and feel for those w/o heat. We do the usual, stock up on food and layer up with clothing… Oh and we have a space heater that we all gathered around yest until the heater could be fixed. Take care everyone… shaping up to be a rough winter. xo

    1. Thank you Marie. I haven’t and have only stuck my head out to put out my mail and pick it up. Something strange seems to make a person want to just stay in and quiet. Marie, did I hear you have a birthday to celebrate today, if so Best wishes for a great year. I think Tuesday is going to be bad, so you may want to cancel your app’t, I just checked your weather forecast. A warmup is on the way on Wed. Hooray.

  3. In Melbourne Australia right now you would think it was winter all over again. Cold wind, heavy showers of rain and an expected top of 17C or for USA friends 62F. Ten days ago we had 38C (100F). But that is only Melbourne, it is not typical of other capital cities in Australia.

  4. Pete, 62F sounds like a heatwave, but with rapid changes you get caught unaware. Yesterday I bundled up for church and it was 54F and today 1F, 0F and -2 all day and evening. You Aussies, or Melbourne Aussie do get the award for weather changes though. That 1:03 am, is that your time or Uk time?

  5. I live in Michigan, USA. It’s in the upper Midwest of the country and is the state with the five Great Lakes. We are shaped like a mitten and split in two haves. I live at the very bottom of the state, right near the Indiana border.
Yesterday we got 15 inches of snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tonight we are having a polar freezing event, with temperatures at -11F below zero and wind chills at -25F below zero. It’s only 7:40 pm, can’t imagine what it’s going to be like in the early morning hours. They are predicting -45!!!!!!!!!
I am though sitting in a very nice warm house, drinking hot chocolate, and having a nice evening with my computer. I am saying prayers for those who are out in this tonight, and also the animals that are enduring this freeze!!!!!!
