Can you stand?

There’s a few lines from a novel about the Napoleonic wars. The rest matter not at all, but one question in relevant. That question is “Can you stand”?

Today I saw a boy, about 13, stand. He stood against four seventeen year olds. They wanted his Gran’s handbag, but the lad got in the way and he would not move. Despite threats of all kinds, this lad stood firm.

After I and a couple of other male passers bye had a few words the 17 year olds….shall we say, left, but that’s not the point.

The lad stood his ground. Despite what many say about the youth of today, there’s nothing wrong with the majority of them.

When push comes to shove, they’ll stand, as their fathers and grandfathers did.

  1. Oh how I agree with you Way…………….only have to look at my grandson and his mates, without exception they would have all done the same……….the youth off today very often get all lumped together and given a bad press……so unfair.

  2. What an awesome young man! Sadly, yes lots of kids get an undeserved bad rap. Even worse, IMHO, is when they do something good or great – there is little or no recognition at all. Another demonstration that speaks to the current condition of our world. So glad you “stood up” for him in turn!
