Avast Scammers
I’ve been fighting a battle with Gen Digital this weekend. They billed me for a year subscription even though I did not authorize it. I had the Avast antivirus protection but it was not set up for automatic renewal. It took a few emails, phone calls, and putting up with a cranky lady in the cancellation department to finally get the charge reversed. Not to mention the transfers and time I spent on hold listening to awful music. I imagine they figure that most people will not go through all the hassle to get the charges reversed, as it is taxing on the brain. My serenity went right out the window. Beware folks. Online purchases can be hazardous, and you can’t trust them.

I have a separate bank account for online purchases. I put in the exact amount needed for my purchase. So no extra money can be taken out.
You are a smart lady. I might consider that. Thanks for the idea.
You’re welcome š
@Tennesseedude also if you have signed up for monthly, 6 monthly or yearly on this site. If you dont want your money coming out automatically you need to stop payment a few days before its due .
ok, I will keep that in mind. So far, I am enjoying the conversation, so I might just stick around.
I have a Barclaycard Credit Card for this exact reason, and as insurance too because you can claim back from them if you have issues with the seller. That’s law in the UK, so it protects the consumer.
Most of my purchases are by card
Any unauthorised transactions are reported straight away to my bank.
They have been pretty good at responding with refunds
