AN OPEN LETTER TO “THE MANAGEMENT”
There have been several instances recently of members leaving and returning a few days or weeks later, some after quite troubled messages posted on here.
I am not aware of their circumstances, nor the reasons for their leaving and |I have no wish to get involved in any arguments regarding rights and wrongs or decisions made by management.
I would mention, however, that before the site was transformed some years ago into the all singing all dancing creation that we now enjoy, there was a facility to “hide profile” rather than just “delete profile”. This gave those who felt the need to either take a break or to consider whether they should continue their membership to disappear while they calmed down and looked at things rationally before making the fateful decision to delete themselves.
Would it not be possible, with all the technology available, to reinstate this facility?
Just a thought.

Me too…..I went through a bit of a bad patch some weeks ago, I had health issues, felt really low, and when someone I cared about said something which I misunderstood, it just got a bit hard to bear.
My first reaction was to leave SC completely.
Luckily, a good friend, who I trust and care for suggested that I take some time out and I’m glad I took her advice. I would have missed all my friends too much, there are too many nice people here to leave.

What’s that, Way? you’d like to join the ‘All singing All dancing group’ we’ve just formed? 🙂 Seriously, that’s a good idea… and if for some reason he can’t bring this back, hopefully each person could at least take a nice long break and process, regroup & get their head together to be sure it’s what they really want b4 doing something so drastic. Seems like there’s no down side to just going away for a little bit while you’re figuring it out..
Whole heartedly agree with Way and Millie. The option to hide was great and would be again. That being said, I have many times taken a break, or a break from the chat room only. Most importantly, the awesome support of friends on SC can still be received and given if you simly chat privately with your closest friends at such times.

seems a good Idea way, hope Rob is listening to you……but alas he dont seem to listen to good advice only negative stuff….lol
The idea is a good one and Im sure if the option had been available when this site was installed it would have been here. Possibly it is some kind of add-on and Rob has already said there should be an upgrade coming very soon so maybe it is something he can think about putting in. Fingers crossed we dont lose something already here to get something new added with space and availability a consideration…:-)
If someone upsets you just take a break – you will still remain a member. I have been away for weeks at a time due to surgery, and when I come back all is well – all of my friends are still there – no probs. But if the hide profile works better, then perhaps it’s a good idea. This is just my opinion xo
way,i’ve mentioned this several times before and in replies to a couple blogs..i guess you’re agreeing with me now..lol..i have stressed the point of DON’T DELETE to a few who told me they were leaving….for the most part folks decide they’re to addicted to all the singing and dancing and want rob to unlock the door so they can get back in and rejoin the fun…lol
