Quantum Physics is Mind-Bending

I was watching quantum physics videos about theories about the universe. I honestly do not know if any of these theories are grounded in real science or if it’s just a bunch of nutters spewing nonsense because I don’t understand science well enough to really grasp the basis of these theories, but some of the theories about multiverses and parallel universes and quantum realities and quantum immortality… wild stuff to ponder.

Like I said, I’m not a science-minded person, but I do like to watch videos and documentaries about nature and space. These concepts are so big I can hardly wrap my brain around them, but I guess it makes our human problems and worries a bit smaller, they seem less significant by comparison.  Running around all day worrying about the laundry or the bills or so-and-so hurt my feelings, then you start contemplating the vastness of the universe or the miracle of life and I get to a place where I wonder why am I wasting energy on mundane little things? It’s a good reminder to stop sweating the small stuff.

  1. Sounds intriguing. @CheesyMac Any recommendations for a good starting place/video. I too have no scientific knowledge. Occasionally lose myself in the stars. Dont know if Im ready for the whole universe. But might dip my toe in 😳

    1. I couldn’t remotely tell you what’s good or bad. I was doing stuff with Youtube on for background noise and a video called “Why the Universe is Inside Black Holes?” came on and I listened, and next thing I know my feed is jumping from one strange quantum theory video to another and I just listened till it made me dizzy.

  2. Like you, I’m not that good with scientific facts but I do enjoy looking, watching and hearing a bit about it. Interestingly – or not, ha ha – I have noticed that there’s often some correlation with the Star Trek TV series. Now I’m not a full blown Trekkie but I am still quite a fan and if there’s one way to develop some interest in space @tjay , it could be a place to start. Star Trek is fiction of course but as I said, there are some crossovers as well. Anyway, I’ll leave that side of things up to you…ha ha!

    1. I haven’t watched any of the more recent Star Trek shows & movies but I watched the older ones…They used to play reruns of the next generation every day at like 6pm and I’d watch it while making dinner. I guess that became a habit… I heard my daughter when she was about three yrs old talking in the bathroom, the door was cracked so I peeked in to check on her. She was on the toilet reciting, “Space…. the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise…”

      1. That’s so cool ha ha! I got up as far Enterprise – with Scott Bakula – and I also enjoyed watching Deep Space Nine as well, but the original Kirk / Spock / McCoy series and The Next Generation and even Voyager are my favourites. I also enjoyed the later Star Trek reboot movies with Zachary Quinto and Chris Pine which tell the story on a different timeline but using the original Kirk / Spock / McCoy character names. Oh well that’s me out of the closet now then! 😂

          1. I don’t have the subscription for that but I know Robert Picardo reprised his role as The Doctor in the series. Incidentally I enjoyed the movie called Innerspace back in the 80s where he played the role of The Cowboy. That movie was itself a comedic rip off a 1966 Science Fiction film called the Fantastic Voyage. It’s all good 😂

  3. Cheesy Mac. You explained things very well with your experience and conclusions. One person , maybe a “NUTTER”, texts me some astro physics numbers and ens with total nonsense. So many people or presentations sound with real believable informations and then wind up with really stupid stuff or wind up with which don’t prove what is said at the end. Your own ending is a good one and we can all do more of that. I suggest you stick to sources sponsored by schools and scientists. There are a lot of “Nutters” around and out there.
