Yoga breathing exercise

The greatest thing you can do to improve your quality of life is to improve your breathing. With the practice of yoga-style breathing you can improve the quality of your health and live a long life. However, if you are not used to yoga breathing, it can appear a very mundane practice. Therefore, we need to spice up breathing exercises, which we can do through the power of visualisation. Read through this little visualisation, and try it out for yourself. You may find it most energising. Moreover, if you keep it up on a daily basic, in time, your health will improve, your mind will gain great clarity, and you will beam like a flashing lighthouse on a blustery storming night at sea.

Visualisation

Sit comfortably, somewhere quiet, and gently close your eyes. On the in breath visualise drawing in trillions of tiny red hearts. On the out breath visualise blowing out trillions of tiny black hearts. The red hearts carry Unconditional Love. The black hearts carry Negative Energy. To make full use of this exercise, try to retain the red hearts (Unconditional Love) for 5 to 10 seconds before slowly blowing out the black hearts (Negative Energy). A mental prop may help you to inwardly see red hearts, e.g., visualise the red hearts as sweets – ‘Love hearts’ – and imagine they carry a message, ‘I Love You’. You can even imagine the taste and smell of ‘Love Hearts’. For the black hearts you may visualise trillions of tiny tadpoles flying through the air with wiggling tails. I look towards the sky when I inhale the red hearts and look towards the earth when I blow out black hearts. Alternatively, you may visualise red hearts and black hearts as tiny balloons. The red balloons remain inflated when they are drawn into the respiratory system; the black balloons pop as they are blown towards the earth. Practise this breathing exercise regularly, and the inner sight of red and black hearts will crystallize.

  1. This sounds very interesting Bob – Can I visualize chocolate hearts for the inward breathing and spinach for the outward? Just kidding, I firmly believe in your theory and am certain that negativity attracts negativity and positivity attracts positivity. The same applies to the way we breathe. Thanks for this blog.

  2. Hi jo jo. I love your idea about chocolate hearts and spinach. 1) you are using your creative mind, just as, when a child 2) you’ll promote all round fitness from yoga breathing. Superb comment!

  3. Cosmicbob – I had a lousy night last night, pain, insomnia, and as I lay in bed, I remembered your yoga breathing and did it. I stuck to the red hearts for the inward breathing, and black hearts for the outer. I still couldn’t sleep, but I felt better all around for doing it.
