To DIEt or not to DIEt, now that is the question.

To DIEt or not to DIEt, now that is the question.

To DIEt or not to DIEt that is my question . I had a great month of making merry, which means rich food and good spirits in considerable quantities. Now I am ready to get back to a spartan existence. I am really ready and want to get some work done, get active and get back to a DIEt.
I ordered Dr. Phil’s new book and it arrived and I have read it.
I have really psyched myself into trying his very different way of eating. I am ready. By that I mean, I am really looking forward to it. To DIEt or not is a big question.
I am hoping to start this new way of eating and see how it works. He has a list of 20 foods, 20 that’s all, and you eat that and only that for 5 days. I like everything on the list and eat most of them anyway so it is not such a big change for me. It does not need to be this diet, but food is the most important way we can make ourselves feel good and look good. So, why wouldn’t we ALL want to eat better, trying to find the foods that will sustain us and give us the energy to live and work?
So, that is why I am really looking forward to starting this new way of eating and living. I hope to feel better, fit into my clothes better, and to have more energy to do all the things I need and want to do.
Can anyone really say they DO NOT want that for themselves? It does not matter what you eat, but are you eating and drinking what will make you healthier and more energetic, and there by HAPPIER?
To DIEt or not To DIEt, that IS the question. My answer is that I will now focus on eating and drinking only that which makes me feel better. Makes sense to me.

  1. Rose, I can see where you are coming from. I on the other hand do try and control my eating habits and do lots of walking. I therefore do not need to diet. Good luck to you on the diet, by the way my sister and I will be comparing our walking at the weekend as all my siblings either walk or jog. No diet for me.

  2. yes, we all want to lose weight at some time. I don’t diet, I change the way I eat and do more walking and exercise. The minute I say diet ,I just want to eat more ,so I just say I will eat healthier. It works for me and I hope your “diet” works for you Rose, good luck

  3. Diet as in a reducing diet is a big NO NO in my book, once you start telling your self certain foods are forbidden, then they are the fruits you want…….now a healthy eating diet is another ball game, after a few days of eating healthily and wisely I start to feel better have more energy……..for some one to tell me what foods I can eat does not work for me, I may not fancy that food on a particular day, there are options and we all know what they are……….good luck with this new eating plan Rose……..

  4. Oh gee my friend Rose there I see a problem coming up on you. It’s the food you get and buy in the States.

Another point that will help you to get your dream figure is to eat in smal quantities up to five time a day. Buy and eat that stuff that your body will burn quickly and avoid eating after 6pm.

Good luck and after you’ve finished with your diet just show us some pics before and after.

    1. von Michael. You are right about the food that we get here. I went to a restaurant and a friend ordered a club sandwich and it came fried. Processed food is not really food at all.

  5. As we age obviously our bodies accept or reject most foods differently.
Our metabolism obviously slows. Certain foods are like drugs. Our body gets addicted or has to have a food we feed it if we feed it long enough. If it’s a not so healthy food it’t difficult to stop hence the need for a “diet”. Some foods I have had the habit of eating is not the healthiest in the world. It’s really tough to stop these foods at times. I personally don’t believe in diets. I believe if I condition myself to a certain food it becomes “habit” or the body learns to need it. Processed “ready to eat” foods are too easy and convenient. In the past two years I have conditioned myself to eat more natural grown or raised. The main key factor in my experience is moderation. Moderation is so important in our intake. Good luck in the healthy venture Rose.

  6. Yesterday,in my snail mail box ,was a circular espousing the “Lemon juice ” diet…it seemed so wonderful,I could lose 5 kilos a week on it…since I am 110 kilos at the moment,I reckon that in 22 weeks ,I could weigh the same as a soap bubble…..Reading further I saw that a weeks supply of juice capsules would cost me $185….Now I know why I would lose weigh..I couldnt afford to buy food !
Gave me a laugh anyway 🙂

  8. Really interesting post and comments, nearly all strike a chord with my own relationship with the cycle of life: food, drink, guilt, exercise, diets, work, plans, set-backs…. I’ve always been a potential fatty but in the earlier days my love of the outdoors and sport kept it within reason. Later on, I tried and gave up on diets when I realised they all needed will-power which was the source of my problem really. Eventually, I got a better balance of energy input and output; in emergencies, Christmas, etc., I could do a bit more walking, swimming, gym and that diminishes appetite as well. But it’s always one of life’s struggles, now the active sport has gone, it’s harder to find inspiration/will power to do the gentler outdoor pursuits (most of my peer group have given up 🙂 ) and so much easier to grub out…. but, oh, the consequences are frightening….

Wow, you’ve made me think and stiffened my resolve a bit… cheers…

  9. Not Dieting Bloom, but i have lost that dreaded 5 lbs.. i put on late last year ,by cutting out bread and carbs by that i mean uneccesarycarbs . one must havesome like oatmeal for breakfast with honey and almonds and dried fruits , but bread , biscuits ,etc :we can do without …..
i walk a little , you arer aware I can only excersize very moderately againa fter another heart scare before Christmas … flying around doingt,he Christmas shopping .. that taught me a lesson ha ha ….

But doing well again and just taking things a lot easier , all that rushing about has now finished , however i do really feel thats good eating habits are essentialfor good health ,, being a past health and fitness instructor, i learned so much about healthy eating habits and have followed through .
Though we all tend to pig out on the wrong things occasionally , even the best of us … ha ha ha ..xx

    1. Lani. I hope do well. I hope you find the right balance of exercise. Lani, you sound like you have achieved what many of us need, a healthy diet and a weight that you are happy with.
