Time For A Smile
Many years ago (1947) to be precise, my Father was acting as the Brightlingsea reporter for two of the local News Papers The East Essex Gazette and the East Anglian Daily times.
The Gazette being the local weekly, had always insisted in getting the latest news with all possible haste, often in two parts, and this was done by adding the phrase MORE TO FOLLO…. this way the second and final part of the report were linked up.
At one stage the press asked my father to undertake the training of a cadet reporter and his first task was to attend the funeral of a well known personality and the eager young man wrote and completed his report as follows; Mrs Herbert who died in her 90th year leaves five children and three Grandchildren……MORE TO FOLLOW
