THE RING ON MY FINGER

I look at the ring on my finger
The one you have given to me.
So I could remember us being together
those days of pure ecstasy.

How could I forget your kisses
Your arms warmly wrapped around me
Your hand in my hand…Your skin on my skin
Up at The Black Sparrow…just you …and just me.

You’ve left your heart embedded into mine
My lips are now missing the taste of your love
The nights are so lonely..without you by my side.
I love you and miss you so very much.

I look at the ring on my finger.
The gem a deeper blue than your eyes
I’m thinking of you…each day and night
whatever I do…You are always on my mind

I kiss the ring on my finger…
Pretending it’s you whom I kiss.
This ring was yours…now it is mine.
A symbol of our love so deeply entwined.

  1. I loved this Morvenna. I wear the Diamond aniversary band my husband gave me and it is a symbol of our love even if he is gone I still have that to remind me of him and always will as it is the only Diamond ring that he ever bought me for xmas one year in California.

    1. Annemarie…you’ve got my name wrong…but never worry …I know you meant nmod lol…and Yes a ring it’s a very symbolic thing to have specially when given with love.
      Thank you for your comments…

  2. nmod,
I actually felt the passion in each line, a passion, I suspect, heightens in the time lapse between those golden times and the present. I also felt your longing.
I liked the poem, but it made me feel sad for you. Life has a terrible sting in it’s tail, and leaves so many lovely people with gaping gaps in their heart. But writing is a wonderful outlet for your emotions, and you seem to have a gift at expressing your feelings in words. Love R.
