The New SC Logo…

I’d like to explain why the change and my reasoning’s for doing so. Firstly, the existing logo is something that I put together very quickly. I have never liked the typography, and although the man-in-a-bubble is fitting for the site. I’m not sure of the original source, and so I wanted to get something done professionally that I owned outright and something brandable moving forward with the site.
Why an Owl.
My thinking is that an owl symbolizes wisdom and seniority, and the majority of designs I have picked play on this very well with the owl being constructed out of ‘inverted commas – representing a chat community. Personally I think it’s a very clever and follows the KISS (keep it simple stupid) approach to design that I love.

I have to admit Rob, I looked at the logos before reading the above. My first thought was : I dont like any of these, and whats with the owl?
I had no idea until I read the above, that they represented comma’s. Looking at it from a newbie’s view, they probably wont see it either.
Out of the logo’s posted, I voted for 180, but have to admit I was a bit disappointed.
Apologies to the designer.
