The Last Song Ever

The Last Song Ever

If you had just five minutes left to live……….and you could hear one last song………… what would it be and why……..now I have to write more words so I think the one I would choose would be Garth Brooks…….The Dance…….for Gawds sake still not enough words………….Queen………. The Show must go on…….

  1. I have a few songs that have so much meaning to my life since I met my husband, Star. My eyes are getting teary just thinking of leaving this world before him.

I want him to know that I have always loved him; since the minute I laid eyes on him… hence this song.

Tears are flowing now. Why? I have no idea. I guess the fact that we are getting older and we don’t know what the future holds for us?

My favorite song that I would want to listen to is:

    1) Have I Told You Lately by Van Morrison.

    1. Hi Pam, music is a wonderful thing, can stir up so many emotions, happy and sad, that song has a meaning for me too, my fella is not a great one for showing emotion, but we were out driving in the countryside one day and he put that cd on sung by Rod Stewart, his only words were…..Jessica this one’s for you……..awww bless……….me…………well I hope I am the one who gives up the ghost first………xx

    1. Hello Hippie, another song I will listen to………well this song will have happy and sad memories for you I guess, but memories nevertheless………..thinking about it a good part of our life is made up of memories, lots more good one’s to be made………..here’s hoping…..xx

  2. I would have the Animals The House of the Rising sun love it reminds me of my youth .and the thought of a whore house being my last memory sort of bad isn’t it lol

    1. Hi Woody, don’t think I have heard this one either, but will do very shortly, sure I will find some meaningful words in the song, lots have been written from the singers own personal feelings and experiences…..xx

  3. Oh what a question………you “Killer Queen” Star.
I really give up on this one…too many to choose from.
Might have to go for something by ELO….Wild West Hero …oh then again something from La Boheme….oh no perhaps….my dying breath would be trying to decide!!!!

  4. Hello Star,

    if I have 5min left I’msure I won’t hear anything, will I??? So I don’t mind what they are they playing. But to give the whole ceremony a decent touch I would suggest they start with;

    Time to Say Goodbye
    Will The Circle Be Unbroken.
    My Way
    Il Silenzio

And after I’ve knocked at the pearly gate and I’ve entered heaven it would be wonderful if they would play
    Amazing Grace.
    Am I asking to much???xxxM

  5. The Rose by Bette Midler becouse it was the first flower i ever held. 2. Stay awhile by Dusty Springfield my late husband loved this and although he couldn’t sing he would growl the song in my ear!. 3. Miss you nights by Cliff Richard. I dont need to explain the last song…the title says it all. 🙂

  6. Hi Shads…….so many songs, so many memories, all hold a special place in our hearts…….although I am not a fan of Cliff Richards I do like the song” Miss You Nights”……xx

  7. Starletteyou really have a great idea for a blog here. I think you are asking what song would comfort us or say something that said something meaningful about how we have lived our life. A very scary subject, but I thought I was dying once, I was tumbling down a stairs, and I just wanted the pain to stop and did not worry about a thing. This is a comfort to me, and It may comfort others.
If were a believer, I would go with “Amazing Grace” or “on That Resurrection Morning”. If one is not familiar with those, the name tells a lot and the first one is wonder and the second is joyous.
Since I am not a believer, I think I would choose “I Did It My Way” by Frank Sinatra or the Sound track from “Man of La Mancha”. and I don’t remember the singer and The song, “The impossible Dream”.

  8. Far too many to choose from star.
Maybe something gutsy like ‘We Are The Champions’ ‘We’ll go on fighting to the end’ by Queen that I can go out rocking to.
Or something spiritual zen flute/water music to send me on my way in peace.

  9. WITHOUT A DOUBT, (THE ROSE) SUNG BY BY BETTE MIDLER, IT GIVES US THE KNOWLEDGE THAT WHENEVER OR WHEREVER WHEN OUR TIME COMES, ANOTHER ROSE WILL FLOURISH IN THE SPRING …… AGAINST ALL THE ODDS , SO THEREFORE TO MY WAY OF THINKING , THAT NO MATTER WHAT THE ADVERSITY , DEATH, PAIN OR OTHER DIFFICULTIES
WE WILL BE REBORN EVEN IN MEMORY, EACH SPRINGTIME …..

  10. Thank you Lani. You have expressed what i wanted to say about the song ‘ The Rose’ sung by Bette Midler. Your words beautifully written are exactly what i wish i could say myself but lack the the way to say them, or maybe i am just too much of a coward to open my heart up on here. Whatever the reason , i want to thank you so much for what you have written about the song. you will never know how much your lovely words means to me. 🙂 xx

  11. Why must you always make me think Star?
“No woman, no cry” Thats the song I’m having played at my funeral.
I doubt my wife will bother to go to my funeral, shame that. Lessons to be learnt.
Keep it up Star, me um luvs yer style

    1. Dave, cannot you see I am doing you a big service here, making you use the grey matter….you know what they say…….ya don’t use it….ya lose it…..ah Bob Marley, good one………..but sure there are many out there that turn the tables……no men…….no bloody cry…hehe……luvs ya……..xxxx

  12. This answer to the music blog has got to be the hardest answer of them all. When you have heard so many great songs it is very very difficult to just pick one.
The only one that springs to mind that I have played a million times is one by Raymond Froggatt — “I did it all for you” ,,from his cd titled “Someday”. My front parlour room days or should I say evenings with the girlfriend was, Elvis’s “Don’t”.
How I romanced many a girl with that song. Heh Heh Heh.

  13. Aww Pam, thankyou so much for that huge compliment……..just me being me…..don’t even have to think about it……..guess my mind just goes in a fun direction, not many things I cannot see humour in………xxx

  14. While my husband of 39 years was dying, I sang our song to him which is “Through the Years” by Kenny Rogers. We always thought the words were written just for us. I would love to be listening to that song when I leave this world and go to join him. We will dance to this song together again!

  15. Hello Jenny, what a lovely thing that you were able to do that for him, must have brought him much comfort………do hope someone will play that song for you when the time comes………and I have no doubt at all that once again you will dance together……xx
