The Fun is still there if you Look for it!

We often hear on here “I wish the chatroom conversations were as it was in the early days with all the fun and laughs we had”. Well, I can tell you it is still there and it is still the same. I spent quite some time in there during my afternoon hours yesterday and laughed so much my sides were hurting.

The jokes and insults were flying and everyone joined in with no-one getting offended or huffy over anything that was said as it was all done in good spirits. As usual I insulted the Aussies and they gave it back, one chatter come up with a new idea for a programme Whip could put forward for a new radio show about “Radio for the Blind” (will leave her to tell you about that one) and there was a lighthearted conversation about the word “Jeez “( yes silly isnt it).

Among all this little snippets of everything else that left us all feeling lighthearted and happy.  Others were coming and going…..or should that be going then coming due to getting lost somewhere in cyber space (something the chat room does now and again)….. but in all it was a great time spent in the chat room.  So, once again, I reiterate that it is the Chatters who make the chat room and if it isn’t to your liking either get out and enjoy other aspects of the site or join in and enjoy whatever is happening in there.

If you enter the Lobby and find it is too serious for you there are other rooms to use and maybe others feel the same as you so make use of those other rooms and before leaving let others know why and some may join you….they aren’t there for display purposes only.  Me, I’m all for the lighthearted stuff and it was there when I entered the Lobby so I didn’t have to go to any other rooms, my good luck. Thank you so much to the ladies and gentlemen that were in the chatroom at that time – what began as a really bad day was made so much better by the laughs and fun I had in there.

By the way….I don’t think any of the Chatters in the chatroom at that time were Members here in the early days so had no idea of how things once were so didn’t know what wonderful memories of chatting they bought back to this old Kiwi.

  1. Definitely depends who is in the lobby………get fun loving people in there and it is ace….,,nothing to do with past times and past members at all…..fun is where you want it to be…..xx

  2. Star that is so true….. the chatters are the ones who make it fun. If its too serious in the Lobby get a friend to go to another room and get your own going…curiosity will get the better of some and others will join in. Its better than asking “where has it all gone”.

  3. ” The jokes and insults were flying “. That’s not my kind of fun ,thank you very much !
I love New Zealand …I think it’s a vey beautiful country , but one my more expensive and beautiful tours around South Island was totally ruined by the insensitive bus driver throwing insulting jokes at the Aussies on board who were the majority .
The difference between the chat room and the tour bus is that ,I could have walked out of the chat room ,no problem . But the tour bus …I had paid a lot of money for it ! 🙁

  4. Nmod..that tour bus driver was inappropriate doing such a thing and I dont think it would be something that happens all the time…perhaps he knew them…. or some of them personally, But the insults the Kiwis trade with the Aussies are very common and it is well known that it is done in jest. Both countries are first to jump in and help the other if the need arises and have done so with the fires and storms in Aus. and the earthquakes here in NZ in the more recent times.

  5. Faye, I your blog makes me feel better. I keep feeling like newer people are not quite appreciated. The comment is very off putting. I think people have to be consistent and stay in the chat room and make friends and get a regular group for the most part. The chat room is like real life a lot. You can not walk in with a bunch of strangers and expect to be sharing jokes instantly, and it also helps for all people to try to include all and try to be open to friendship. I stayed on this sight and probably a big reason twas hat Lani and Patricia made me fell good the first day and have been nice ever since. Some people teased me about being a yank, but I just learned some history and was not offended at all. Fay, I am glad to hear that the chat room is still good.

    1. Bloom so pleased you feel that way , If our Newbies would visit the Newbie site on groups when they join they would have a personal welcome from myself and others… we love our Newbies and wish them a happy and interesting time on senior Chatters, and would find out a few activities they may be interested in .. i DO welcome all our Newbies and I hope they join in and find some genuine fun tim,es here as you did , you have contributed in a big way Bloom since you became one of us , and I enjoy your company immensly…. xxx

  6. Faye , you are so right an enjoyable time is had by all in the afternoon Aussy time zone , especially on music days … the lovely insults fly in a happy frame of mine especially toward the guys, who take it all in good spirits, the ditch or the pond which is what it is commonly known as to keep the N zedders and the aussies apart is a constant joke of referral, being the sea that seperates us for those that don.t know when we refer to it , but that ditch or pond is the first we cross in a hurry if a catastrophe occurs as you say ,in either coun try , we are like brothers and sisters under the skin …. the fun and role play that happens in the chat room is priceless and i wouldn,t miss it for anything , unless an emergency prevents me being there… well done Chatters , love you all…

  7. And oh Faye the joy when we two meet to fight out the World Cup on Sunday ,I can immagine the sledging going on on that field, good luck to you, your going to need it lol

    1. Marvellous reading through the blogs,as a reincarnated SC erer,I`m enjoying talking to all who come into the room,be it jest, humour or serious. Its a very small world and this forum lets us join where distance is no matter, although, and I hope not, New Zealand might be a bit too close after Sundays cricket match, but I`m being negative,we`ll just pull the plug on the ditch to stop those war canoes from getting here in retribution hahahaha.Love you all.

      1. Id leave the plug there if I were you Cat. After all, there will be a few of your cricketers wanting to come over here to learn how to play the game properly after Sunday……and their first lesson will be arm strength by swimming here via that same ditch….heeheehee!!
