Sweet Dreams Are Made of This…

Does anyone else here have vivid dreams that they remember or even better dreams that when they awoke they believed were  real?

My dreams quite often include talking animals and for all the dream analysis out there  – no one has covered the subject of talking animals. They cover an animal  but quite often the animals that are talking are varied, there’s been cats, dogs, snakes, rats, hamsters …

As for carrying the dream into the conscious world … I did once dream that I had offended my friend, not realising it was a dream I called her the next day to apologise !

Last night I had one such episode ……

My poor husband

Usually he falls asleep watching TV on the couch and doesn’t come to bed til early hours ….. He is use to my waking up startled and screaming when he comes into the room (well when your woken from your sleep because a 6 foot fella is standing at the bottom of the bed it is only natural to scream!)

BUT last night

He must have disturbed me when he got into bed but when I opened my eyes (well I thought I’d opened my eyes) I saw a HUGE spider crawiling on his hand … So I screamed “spider” and we both jumped up and threw all of the bedding off i was dancing around the room and he’s on a spider hunt ….. turns out it must have been another one of my dreams!

  1. I dream most nights, yet how pinging it is when one has to get up for a wee, then return to bed and try to carry on with the dream, it never seems to work… dam I never seem to get that girl.. Or finish that mission as 008 1/2…

  2. I worked in Mental Health and it has been proven that if we are deprived of REM for more than 4 nights running it can worsen mental health issues however waking someone with depression before REM for 3 nights running helps lift the mood.

BUT having said all that whilst I do believe that dreams are the body’s way of dealing with unresolved issues, I know most of mine have little/no significance. I am able to influence my dreams and wake myself up from nightmares (of which I have very very few)

I always laugh whenever some lay person tries to analyze my dreams …. great fun.

    1. When I can not sleep for some reason I find thinking of my first wife is most helpful. She always knew what she wanted and we met at the high school USO dance. We talked 20 minutes and i did not dance, drink, or smoke so thought would scare her away. She said will you come home with me and meet my parents, so they picked us up. In 3 months were engaged and 6 months married. She would say sex your can get anywhere but LOVE is totally different. So I wrote this about our love.

      LOVE

L means we will lay in bed and talk and massage each other

O means we will be open to sex till we get tired

V means we had victory and lay in each others loving arms

E means we will see the end result as we were blessed with 6 children

  3. Having just awoken from a vivid dream I will give you my thoughts on this topic! Usually I have vivid dreams if I am overtired, as I was this morning, often have what I call ordinary dreams and think nothing of them. The vivid ones if I try to understand where did all that come from, it is usually of people I have been thinking about but then they all get jumbled up and appear as much younger and in most odd places!! The one dream that used to recur for me, is getting in my car, putting it in reverse but then the brake pedal wont work and oh dear me am I glad to awake from that!! Thankfully this dream has not recurred in recent times! Agree, one has to laugh and not dwell on what dreams mean.

  4. 🙂 my dream last night was one about all my work colleagues deciding to break out into song and dance and drumming with their hands on their desks in our usually very quiet office. Then the director told them all to be quiet but then asked what song it was right before I turned the radio on full blast!
On my way home I went into the local shop and picked up 20 cigarettes and a packet of sesame seed snaps, remembering I don’t smoke anymore I put the cigarettes back and the nice man in front paid for my sesame seed snaps but the shopkeeper give me the change then started telling the man how I owed him the money. Outside the shop I handed the man the money and he gave me the sesame seed snaps in return. I reached the bottom of the street and saw the end of the street cordoned off by police , looking down I saw that my sons house had been burnt out I didn’t want this in my dream so I turned away and was shouting NO NO NO and as if by magic I woke myself up and life is good again 🙂

  5. Animals in dreams usually represent humans. Dogs usually represent friends, so someone you can trust. A snake is a ‘snake in the grass’ someone to be wary of….and so on. You need to think about the animal in the dream and consider what it means to you.
