SOME OF MY THOUGHTS.

I was just thinking about how I was brought up.

Being the eldest of seven children, I grew up fast.

My grandfather lived with us until he passed away when I was eleven years old.

That hit me really hard , as both my parents worked, so Grandad was like a parent to us.

We were brought up to respect people, speak when we were spoken to, and have good manners.

If we had nothing good to say, not to say anything, This was big with my father.

We were also taught that money does not grow on trees, so as soon as I was fifteen it was out to work.

I worked in Chemists shops until after I was married, and even after having my first child I went to unpack

Deliveries , taking my baby with me.

I have always been encouraged to walk. in fact we all were, One of my brothers actually ran half marathons,

He was still coming first after he was sixty. I used to walk for four hours every Saturday and Sunday, as I worked full time.

Walking is still big for me, I do know that my sister also does a lot of walking, another brother used to take people

who were on holiday up Coniston Old Man , and also up to Tarn Hows. That is some climb. I have done the Tarn Hows a

couple of times, the scenes are beautiful.

Even when I lived in Germany I used to walk, also in Turkey. You see we walked everywhere when we were children.

If we went to the shore with Mum and dad we walked, and it was quite a walk. People never had the transport that they do today.

I much prefer to walk as you meet different people, as opposed to driving places.

There is nothing more satisfying that to walking along a shoreline, in the woods, or over a moor.I like to see the wildlife.

This is what I like, what about any of you? What do you like to do?

  1. Like you I love to walk, but alas my undercarriage is now suffering badly, so most of my walks are through these pages – I guess it comes to us all in time – have a happy day!
