So Long. Farewell. Amen.

I have persevered with this site, really I have. I know that I dip in-and-out, but even after an absence of three months on my return I find there is not even enough new content to occupy me throughout a wet Tuesday afternoon.

So what is it that is wrong? Why do so few people remain active? I suppose that if it was an easy fix it would have been fixed by now.

My biggest problem is the site navigation which, to me at least, is simply not intuitive. Yes I can get where I want to get eventually, but given the slow way in which the site pages are delivered even on my iPad Pro, I just lose interest. Another problem is that every time I get to know someone, they get fed up and leave (just as I am doing now). I’m afraid that it is very much a downward spiral.

I am also acutely aware of the cost. £13 per quarter £53 per year is a significant cost for a pensioner, which would be sustainable if the site held my interest for more than a few minutes at a time, but given the current level of activity I think it is money that I could better use elsewhere. I have, however, just paid. So presumably I will be around for a few weeks before the powers-that-be pull the plug on me.

The title? Some of you might recognise the title of the final episode of M*A*S*H. The end of an era, or more importantly the start of a new one.

Peace and love, peeps.

  1. To be honest, until I read this, I wasn’t aware there was a charge. I then looked in my profile and it says Premium membership free for 7 days!. when I joined, I never saw anything about any payment. I have been on every day since joining and there never seems to be many people participating in chat or any other groups, so when the premium membership expires, I will see what I am left with and see how it goes after that. £53 seems a lot if people don’t participate
