So Immense it’s my Solitude .
So immense is my solitude …my soul is aching to be touched
Hands warm crafting hands knead me gently back to life
Soft tender wandering-lips rest a moment on my skin
Faceless lover in my mind quench my thirst, hold me up
Like a tree in the desert, slowly life is fading out .
No one wants a dying tree, useless timber standing up
As the tree wishes for rain, so is my core longing for love
We are both doomed to fall through the chop of the same axe.
Sun warm life giving sun, selfless embracing everyone
Sun scorching life taken sun, your burning rays I wish to touch
Twirling, twirling into the abyss gazing the heavens in my plight.
Cool summer raindrops fall… sweetly dancing on my face
Multicolored rainbow …entrancing …beckons from afar.
Your enticing beauty is as hollow as my life
Like a zombie I walk to meet you, I want to hold you in my arms
I stretch out my hands to grasp you …drawing nothing to my heart
Like an angel without wings…or an eagle with no eyes
Like a mother and her child …stranded in their ravaged land
Like a bird with broken wings.. that’s unable to take flight
So is my heart… searching the meaning and the reason for my life.
So immense is my solitude …

Poignant, heartfelt to its core; bright in imagery with lines that sing a melancholy but yet not maudlin song. Wonderfully well written. NMOD at your best. Irony: out of pain such beauty. You are an heir in spirit of Emily Dickinson.
I’m delighted and humbled by such a wonderful response , THANK YOU !
Deeply moving, Nmod.. You have an amazing gift that I am sure will continue to touch many others.. The feeling/spirit as well as OB’s sentiment reminds me of the biblical reference of beauty from ashes ~ you’ve used your pain to reach and perhaps ameliorate (love that word) others’ pain by the knowledge that they’re not alone.. It’s lovely and bittersweet.
Thank you Millie , writing helps to ameliorate my own pain as well. Thank you for your lovely comments ,much appreciated !
Bravo Nmod! Touched my heart deeply. I agree with OB, you are indeed an Emily. I am in awe of your talent and feel oh so blessed that you share it with us. You indeed, time and time again, show us the window to a poet’s soul. Helen xxx
Thank you very much for your comments Helen , it is indeed I who feels blessed to have good friends who read and take time to write lovely comments on my posts . Thanks again xx
I’m quite moved by the vulnerability of such writing. Pleasure and pain coexist within your exasperation and is the perfect summation of feelings I’ve ever read on this site.
I’m both inspired and in awe of your ability. Thank you.
Thank you very much for your comments ! You describe exactly what
my feelings were as i was writing this poem …exasperation !
Beautiful and touching way you were able to bring pain and hope together. Not forgetting your needs, yet yearning for more.
Reminds me of a song from Nora York:
I want what I can’t have;
Need what I can’t want;
Have, but I don’t have
what I want.
Wonderful poem..strong…meaningful. Linda
Thank you Linda , you are saying it so well ! I don’t know that song ,but it sums up my feelings so well ” Have ,but I don’t have what I want”
Thanks for your comment , much appreciated
