Skunks and Rigatoni – Febuary 2, 2016

Well….hello again to the peoples who enjoy to read blogs. I will attempting to describe the way the the name Skunk and Rigatoni comes to be. May be you will like to make a sandwich and have some English tea before you begin to read – this is a long one …ONLY this time the blogs will be this long. I promiso! :/

Okay – so 2 year ago in the summer time, Steven was invite the “big boss” of his company and the boss wife to our home. All the time on the weekend in summer time, my family comes to stay with us so they can enjoy to go to the beach and swim in the bay. So…the weekend arrive that the big boss and wife come to visit us for the day. I was a little nervous to meeting them – I never see them before and only I know what Steven was tell to me about them. They seem like they will be very nice people, but I was anxiously to make sure that every thing in the house was in a good order and that I having plenty of different kind of food and drinks to serving to them because I not know what they prefering. The wife have red hair and she very tall, like the big boss. I WISH I will be tall like that but no luck. I am 4’10” tall and Steven is 6’5″ tall, and I am all finish growing.

Okay – so the big boss and wife are arrive. Steven introduce them to me and to my family who was with us for the weekend. Uncle Nuno who is 87 year old and Auntie Annie who is 91 year old and my cousins and they families an little childrens – so we was all together 16 people. The big boss and wife is very nice – very well educate and looking like a LOTS of money they have. (madon’) They was look around and a little bit quiet, but that’s okay. It takes some time one hour for people to feeling comfortable with new people they meeting. So they stay for the day and they go to the beach and they having a nice time I think. Steven say to them – “please if you will like we will enjoy to have you stay over and you can leave tomorrow” …. Oh boy. I was not prepare for that….but – is okay, I figure they can stay in one the room my cousin is in and cousin will sleep on the back sun porch. They was decide to stay. That is when every thing begin to happening. Oh boy. I make a big Italian dinner, but I forgetted the rolls in the oven and they burn and make a big stink. Then I was walk with the chickens on a platter, and the chickens slided right off and on to the floor. Steven say: Just wash the chicken and we will eat. ??? In front of the big boss?? I give to him the look like we will talking about this later on. bahh! ….. But I wash the chicken and we all was eat with also pasta and other thing. Then…. well…. my little dog, Tilly, she need to be walk, so it was get dark on Saturday night and every one was play cards and laughing….so I decide that I will bringing Tilly out for her walk. I walk Tilly down a different road because it was a hot evening and very pretty night with the stars – so I enjoy to walking a little farther than usually to another area of the bay. Unfortunate – we both was spray by a big monster skunk. That little bast! Poor Tilly – she get it the worstest. In her eyes she was spray and she could not even see….so I pick her up to carry her home. I was also spray an I could feel the spray was on my face and in my hair. That was wonderful….jusssst wonderful. :/
So I arrive home and I enter in the back door so the big boss and wife will not see me or Tilly (or smell us) ….. Tilly have a bath and it help a little bits…I was not have the time for a bath so I wash my face with a cloth and some of the peroxide the best I can and I put perfume. I walk in to the dining room and my son say, “Ma! What happen to you?” I tell them about the skunk an I apologizing that we not smell so nicely. Steven look and look at me…and he say, “Gia – what happen to you eyebrows?” … I look in the mirror – and my eyebrows was bleach to ORANGE color from the peroxide. Nice. Very nice. He say, “you look like oopaloopa, Gia”…. EVERY one was laugh to Gia. I was so embarrass that I do that to my own self. I was feel very frustrate and overwhelm from be so nervous that the big boss and the wife was there and I trying so hard to impress them…. They both was laughing and every one was also laughing…and my son say, “Ma…you must go an change the clothing because all we can smelling is the skunk!” ….So I go to my room and I changing and I feeling so embarrass that I begin to cry. I get very angry and so I marching back in to the room and I tell to them: “Listen! – I do my best here and I cooking and cleaning and try to making everything nice for every one…so what every thing have not go so perfectly – big deal! I work and cooking so all can enjoy!”…. I look to the boss and wife and I apologize and I say – “you know, there is no secrets here – this is the way it always is…. my world is that of skunks and rigatoni and I can not change what you see here!” So…that is how the name begins and how my family describe me to people…. Gia’s world is that of skunks and rigatoni – and it will not change so WELCOME – have some nice bread and a glass of vino while the chaos circle around you. 🙂 Big boss and wife have been back 2 time more since that day, and they eat like a horses…so I guess it was not all as bad as I was think it was. …and that is all.
From Gia xo 🙂

  1. What a story 🙂
Of all the days to be sprayed by a Skunk it had to be that day! I live in the UK – no skunks here – so I have no idea how bad the smell is. It is probably too bad to describe.
Is it like bad eggs, is it like rotten fish, or is it a smell like no other?
At least your husband’s boss saw the funny side of it all and he must have enjoyed the first visit because he has been back since.

    1. Aww..thank you very much Pam….that so sweet of you… Ahhh – yes – you are in the USA so you know whats the smell of the skunk! Even when they are hit by a car and laying in the road – the stench is incredible badly! haha….. I am happy that you enjoy the story, Pam. I was so tick off at the end, but it torn out to be okay dokey once I esplain to the boss and the wife that it is just the way it is around here.all the time is drama of some sort. Is funny – right now my Uncle Nuno who is 87 years just walk by me and he wearing my pink furry slippers…haha! Oh boy – people not realize how it is in the Italian family. Uncle Nuno have his own apartment, but I think he fraid to stay alone – so he comes here with his valise and he been here for two week. 1. Your Uncle Nuno sounds adorable to me! Can’t stop smiling about the pink furry slippers. Hope they are the ones with heels! 😀 It must be fun to have such a lively family, Gia. Enjoy every minute of the day with your Uncle Nuno.

    1. Oh…haha.. no – they not having heels (thankful for that!) They are like open in the back like a flips flops…and he like the feel of the soft fur on his feets.. lol… but he is all man – trust me…. he just enjoy to wear them… He comes to my bedroom and he know where the are in my closet – He is a goofy one. 🙂 Yes…I enjoy to have my family with me – they are pain the neck some time, Steven say – but – they provide us with much enjoyments and laughter. I know that I will not always have them with me…they are elders now…. so we try to make the best of every thing for them. The more older they getting, the more they liking children things – like ice cream cone with sprinkle and they like lemonade with cherry inside – pancake with chocolate chip inside – – … silly – but we enjoy to watch the enjoyment they receiving from those little thing in life. 🙂 From Gia xo

  3. I enjoyed tour blog and it must have been a very long day for you. I learned from waylander that England does not have skunks. Skunks have a horrible smell that is almost impossible to get off. I was never sprayed by a skunk, but I have smelled them from a distance. Gia, I admire you for being able to get through it.

    1. Oh roseinbloom……haha…… I can not believeing that there is NO SKUNK IN ENGLAND?? How is the English so fortunate that they will not have to experience that kind of stench? LOL! Oh boy…… well….we get through what we must get through, right rose? It take a lots of scrubbing because the skunk spray is consist of oily from they glands (I will not mention where the glands is – but the skunk must torn around to spray!) : / When the skunks oil is deposit on the human or the animal, it get into the nostril and the eyes and the ears and it stay there for a long time. Even after I scrubbing and scrubbing – week later Steven say “go away! I can still smell the skunk in you ear!” : } Thank you roseinbloom … thumb up! xo
