Silent Witness

***warning may contain spoilers****

Silent Witness was a tense TV drama (I won’t bore you with the details).  During the series a woman was kidnapped and placed ‘underground’ in a coffin (Being claustrophobic I get an  anxiety attack just typing those words  *Deep Breaths*)

Even with a panic attack I made a few observations that the so called  “intelligent characters did not”

The woman in the coffin supposedly buried underground had a mobile phone with her. Now I don’t know about you, but my mobile phone doesn’t even get a signal in Sainsbury’s (supermarket)  but her mobile phone worked out in the wilds in Mexico and underground

How?

Does Mexico have a superior underground mobile phone networK? Do they sell phones that work underground?

Then there’s the battery on the phone – the character used it as a torch and to keep herself occupied and made numerous phone calls and not a charger in sight!

What was this amazing make of phone – where do I sign up for one?

With all this pondering I was totally distracted and missed the rest and the end of the drama.  I do wish the script writers would consider us over thinkers when writing things like this into the story-line!

  1. I’m sure you could pick holes in the plots and technicalities of many programs. I know I do from time to time, but unless the program is on Discovery Channel, History Channel or National geographic Channel, it’s almost certain that it’s been written with entertainment in mind and not education.

My suggestion? Don’t let it mess with your head. Just sit back, let it wash over you and enjoy.

  2. Haven’t seen that but I’m the same with almost anything! I get so frustrated. I drive my sons mad with my criticisms during every drama or soap lol Do not watch the last series of Sherlock…that will really blow your mind haha

  3. No you are not alone at all. I do like this program yet like so many others on TV they don’t think about the details enough… she escaped the box in the ground and with no mishaps,,,, did she not need the loo at some point,,,,, how did she come out with lippie still intact… taking all this aside we will now have to wait until next year to see the next series… I think Nickie over plays her role with glam that would wake up the dead, if only to have an eye full before the dreaded deed is done.

  4. I do wonder myself at the intelligence of the people who make these programmes. Or perhaps they think we just don’t notice. Why don’t I wake up in the morning looking immaculate like the ladies on tv? You very rarely see anyone washing their hands. People don’t close doors behind them. The list is endless.

    1. oooh I always wake up looking like the ladies on TV! her perfect lippy on teeth already brushed I also looked that perfect during child birth and when I am sobbing crying!

  5. Good blog Carol, I havent seen the show, but now I am going to have to watch it. My husband always shakes his head at me when we are watching movies. I will pick up on anything, like things in the background etc that are different , or when actors are eating something and then 20 minutes later you get shot at the food and its still the same amount lol Maybe she charged her phone with glow worms haha

  6. I love this show and don’t care what errors there are – I just sit back and enjoy it. Murder mysteries are my favourite. I love Vera, Midsomer Murders, Death in Paradise, etc. and so happy most of them will be back on TV starting next week. Good viewing everyone 🙂 xoxo
