Old Behinds should Know What?

Old Behinds should Know What?

I saw the cartoon and had to write a blog about it. Put very succinctly, what is it that old folks should know about anything, especially about what is our womanly virtue at this age and what is it that we should know now.

First is that “it isn’t over till it is over” so we have to hold onto a lot because there is enough that we can no longer do or have no desire to do. Yogi Berra was famous for the quote and he was a baseball player. Well no game is over till the ending and neither is the game of life.

When I was very young, I always paid attention to old people when they were asked about life. One answer stuck with me, If I it had it to do over again, “I would not say no so often”. Let your mind go wild with that one as I did ever since. In all seriousness, we need to say “YES” to a whole lot of life. Some caution can go to the wind, as long as we take precaution that is reasonable.

I am not one to do anything like sky diving, zip lining, wall climbing, or deep sea anything but I am trying to do as much normal stuff as possible. I don’t want to over indulge in drugs or alcohol but I also want to do as much as possible that is healthy and satisfying. I wish that I had more self discipline to exercise and work more, but I also want to keep an open mind to new possibilities for fun and a good and productive life.

What is the difference between what an “old a** (dog) should know and life just being over in more ways than it should?

  1. Well i keep telling you Rose, i do not and never will relate to the word old, not in my vocabulary you see……….,if i were to give advice to my younger self it would be to………..grab life with both hands, never miss an opportunity to try something new, travel as much as possible, keep an open mind to new and untried ideas, not to be a people pleaser, and to develop a don’t give a damn what people think of me attitude………..and of course these are still an option….some of them anyway………just do what you want, and what you can with your life, you still have a pulse………..so your still alive……..enjoy it…xx

      1. Learned a lot over the years Michael………. as we all do…….. or should do…. ……guess that’s the only benefit that comes with age, I cannot think of any other…………..now what makes you think I do not believe that life starts at 40………….poppycock, that’s what I say……..lol xx.

          1. Well good luck to them…….they sure waited a long time for their life to begin………maybe that’s when they retired…….xxx

  2. Starlette and Michael, I do appreciate your comments. Remember Grandma moses who began painting at 71, lived to be 101 and became world famous as an artist. Who knows what is possible?

  3. tossing my two Penneth in ….. Life is meant to be lived to the full, live, laugh ,love , learn ,and be happy, age does not enter into my vocabulary, every day someone new to love, even if not in the biblical sense, every day there is something new to learn, each day one wakens, be pleased that one does…. Seize the day with both hands and always remember you are the only one that can succeed in all you attempt, never be afraid to try new things, one never knows what success it brings into your life, Travel and broaden your horizens , don,t wait for someone to travel with , go alone if you must but go……. keep a journal….. look back on that journal over the years and you will find that you have been an achiever . your life has been very worthwhile and you have lived…..
