The NEW 'Private Chat Bar' (PCB) is now live on Senior Chatters 🙂 Although, on the surface it looks very similar to the old one, it has been completely rewritten, fixed serveral known bugs, and we've introduced a few new features as well. Of which, the biggest by far is Video Chat!!!
To get started with Video Chat, follow the steps below:
1) Click on your PCB and click on the username of the member you wish to Video Chat with. Anybody with a green circle next to their name is active on the site right now and available for chat. Anybody with a grey semicircle next to their name is logged into the site, but has been inactive for the last 5 minutes. Once you have clicked on a username click on the cog icon as highlighted below.
2) Then click on the 'Start A Video Call' link as highlighted below:
3) A new window will open where you will be able to initiate a Video Call. The user you are wishing to Video Chat with will be sent a confirmation in their PCB informing them that you wish to Video Chat with them. They obviously have the option to ignore the call...
Possible Issues Initiating A Video Call
If when you click on the 'Start a Video Call' the new window doesn't initiate it will likely be because your POP-UP Blocker has prevented access. In this case you must either, grant Senior Chatters access or disable the blocker. If you are not sure how to do this, the video below should offer some insight:
Also, the Video Chat uses Adobe Flash. You must have this installed on your computer (most already do) in order for Video Chat to work. You can click on this link to download Adobe Flash if it isn't already installed on your machine.
That's pretty much it.
Happy Video Chatting 🙂
