My New Grandchild

Hello fellow Chatters. Any of you who know me know that family is the most important thing in my life. This includes all my grand babies and my fur babies. Well I have another grand daughter that I have never mentioned as she was born to my step daughter when she was only 15 (long before I married her dad). She gave the little girl up for adoption because at 15 she knew she could not raise a child and get an education at the same time.

Today our daughter called us and said to open the email she was sending. The email was photos of a beautiful young woman. It seems that our daughter had registered on one of those sites where birth parents and adoptive children are trying to find each other. Last night she got a phone call from her daughter, who is now 18 years old and attending college only 4 hours from where Hubby and I live. Of course my first thought was “let’s drive over and meet her” but then common sense kicked in and I realize I had to wait until our daughter had an opportunity to meet her. Our daughter lives about 13 hours from us and about 16 hours from where her daughter is.

Needless to say, today is a joyful day in our household. Our daughter also has a 2 year old son and another baby due in August. Our family is growing by leaps and bounds!

Hubby has said many times over the years, “I guess I will never get to see my grand daughter again”, so it has been very emotional for him. I can’t wait until we can plan an actual meeting.

Thanks for letting me share our wonderful news.

  1. What wonderful news, MJ. I’m so happy for you and your family. What a joyful day for all of you! You’re so blessed to have this grandchild in your life, and she is blessed to have all of you, in hers. Thank you for sharing this with us. 🙂

  2. SO pleased for you MJ, such a blessing for all of you (and her too). I know how good the feeling is when you find people who were lost to you. After my father died I discovered I had a brother whom I’;d never met…we missed out on the first 40 years, but have certainly made up for it…then I found cousins – lots of them.. these sites that give people a chance to reconnect are wonderful.I know you will enjoy your new grandchild, and I’m sure as hell she’ll enjoy knowing you…. hes’ one very lucky young lady ((((((((hugs)))))))) Lina xxxx
