My Groups..

Hi Chatters…

I have 2 groups which I started ohh about 2 years ago….Who Remembers and Things that make you go hmmm and arghhhhh….
There are a lot of groups on here 2 years on, and I’m not sure if some of the other groups have duplicated mine, so I am just giving you all a couple of days just to let you l now I will be deleting them…
It may be a good idea if some of the other members whose groups which haven’t been active for sometime also do the same?…. just a thought I had, as I don’t know about anyone else but it takes me ages now to go through all the groups we have…

  1. It’s impossible to keep up with all these groups. I start out with the best intentions of participating, but I just don’t have the time. I’m going to delete myself most of the groups I’m in. No offense to anyone, I just can’t keep up. Maybe when I retire, if that day ever comes.

  2. I know what your saying debz………but having said that…….I am about to start a new group……there isn’t any group like this one on………hope it will turn out to be great fun…….we will see. x

    1. Oh that’s great star, I just saw the groups I started seem to have others which are based on the same kind of subject, I’ll take a look for your new group…I have an idea for one but it’d get deleted by ‘Admin’ lol 😉

  3. Debs, I think its a great idea to delete your groups if they are not used.
Ive brought this subject up a couple of times, and you know what Ive noticed? Each time its mentioned about downsizing inactive groups, funny how some groups POP UP from the dead.

Karee Okee . . – non active for 1year 8months – popped up and hour ago
The Wine Club – non active for 1year 2months – popped up an hour ago

  4. Debz, I agree with what you are saying. My question is: Why are new groups being formed when there are already groups on the same topic? I am glad I am not the only getting confused. Wouldn’t it be nice to consolidate the same topic groups into one??? 🙂 😉

    1. passy…..I guess consolidate would be good….polly if I want to post in a group I see you have somewhat mastered the confusion, so I’ll come to you lol 😉

  5. Wouldn’t it be a good idea to permanently delete all those groups that have been inactive for a certain amount of time… say, a year, perhaps?!? Just a suggestion. I am getting so confused with so many groups.

  6. i have said this before and risk further wrath to say it again..there are just too many groups…too many redundant groups..and i feel some,i said SOME,do it for their egos…if it’s confusing to us just think how confusing it must be for a newbie…i keep my group list down to 5 or 6 groups..and i can’t keep up with them…dan was doing so much for my cat lovers group i gave it over to him to admin..so i have just prayer warriors and thank goodness there’s a lot of help to keep it going..it has always confused me to why we have forums, blogs and groups…

    1. I don’t have a problem with people creating groups for their own “ego” .they invest their time and knowledge to run their groups for their own enjoyment and that of others …what’s wrong with that? If we think of it everything we do, we do for a reason …we all expect some dividend from our investment ..a pat on the back …some praise..Acknowledgment, whatever ! whether we like to admit it or not .
We all do it , have done it and we will keep doing it …it’s called being human .

  7. have to agree Kat. i think they’re formed w/ the best intentions but so many are redundant. i like Pam’s idea of getting rid of ones that have been inactive for a certain period. someone could always start it back up again if they come back or re-gain their interest or whatever. i personally have stopped joining groups altogether unless there’s something i want to post and i can’t do it otherwise. finding time to contribute to so many can become a chore and once that happens it’s no longer fun.

  8. My take on groups is this, so many people love them, not all go into chat, isn’t the idea to contribute to the site for the benefit of members? If members join and contribute to groups I assume they like that particular group which makes the members and the admin of the group happy. Hard work maintaining groups = ego?? guess all have a different way at looking at things. Personally I love the groups, forums and blogs, take them away and we have just main chat room and shout box and a lot less members I would imagine. I do agree that it would benefit the site if groups with no activity for many months were deleted. As its Rob’s site that is for him to decide.

    1. I dont think anyone wants to take the groups away skip, just reduce them. Its confusing when there there are 3 or 4 on photographs, 3 or 4 on music, 3 or 4 on world.
What takes the biscuit is 2 on Credit Union!!!! Seriously, ONE is enough.
Only the administrator of the group or Rob can delete the inactive groups. and some of them, the original administrator is inactive also.
Its a case of doing a bit of gardening, and chucking out the weeds.
There is nothing personal, just too many that are the same topic.

      1. Pollypie i started the original one on Credit Union i do go back occasionally it was done as an interest the second one was created ater mine and there was’nt a lot of info on it i do intend to update mine and it most certainly wasnt an EGO trip if I can help people out I will cause in uk there r so many legal sharks ie PAYDAY loans and the credit union is the answer to helping people

        1. Totally understand paddy. I think yours is Credit Unions (plural), and I know you keep yours active.
But the other one is Credit Union (singular), which is not active. 😉

  9. I have deleted mine, and no I’m not saying there should be no groups, just seeing what polly wrote, a lot seem to be sidelining other groups, well that’s what I see anyway!!
    🙂

  10. I will be reviewing Groups in the next site update. Maybe, even limitimg the amount of Groups one person can create. Hopefully, this is not too far away now. What I’d like to do is have more of a hierarchy in place so that each Group falls under it’s own Topic. For example all sport Groups together, Music Groups together – you get the idea…

    1. In my opinion , the problem it’s not so much about how many groups a person creates ,but how well they are administrated .
Groups seem to follow a pattern …they are created , they become very active, they slow down , they become idle, they die 🙁
It’s then up to the administrator/s to review them and act accordingly .
The other problem is when new members create a group within the free membership period , then decide not to join …the group then becomes idle, sometimes not because of lack of interest , but because of lack of management.. .( ..my 2cents worth lol)

  11. i agree to limiting the groups one can develop..can’t for the life of me see why anybody would want more than 2 or 3…instead of developing a new group see if one is already there and support that one..

    1. kat, I have two groups (Noah’s Ark) and Trivia Game (this one is dead, well… almost). lol I can only handle one and don’t know how some people can handle more.

Instead… I spend a lot of time replying to other’s group as well as contributing new stuff in Noah’s Ark.

      1. It would be great instead of starting a new group on the same topic to support the ones that are already there? There seems to be plenty of groups to contribute too.

    2. kat, I have two groups (Noah’s Ark) and Trivia Game (this one is dead, well… almost). lol I can only handle one and don’t know how some people can handle more.

Instead… I spend a lot of time replying to other groups as well as contributing new stuff in Noah’s Ark.
