Muffet Brown

I was on a ferry, Gothenburg, in Sweden ,to Immingham in England, a 24 hour trip. Seemed I was sharing a 4 berth cabin with just one person, a black guy. I was in and out buying duty free stuff ect. he just lay there fully clothed looking up at the bunk above.
Around 9pm I returned. I had taken food with me as the onboard prices where prohibitive, and I was hungry. Half way through the food it struck me that this guy can’t have eaten? I said ” I can’t eat anymore, and I hate to throw food away, if you would like anything please make use of it” then I left the cabin to save him embarassment.
When I returned, he had finished the food, and once again lay in his bunk. He said ” you know I lay there praying to the lord, I hadn’t eaten and he always provides for me”
We introduced ourselves, he was Muffet Brown, the son of a british officer and his black mother. He told me of his life – I told him of mine. We talked all night until the ship docked.
That night I learnt humility and trust in a higher entity.

  1. Good story , thank you for sharing it . I do believe in prayer , although I’m not extremely religious …I can say that all of my deepest wishes I have seen realized .

  2. That was an interesting blog David. Thank you for sharing it with us. No matter what a person’s Persuasion is in life, a little prayer whispered in the heart can be a great comfort. 🙂
