  • Well Im enjoying eating some healthy food. Quite a break through for me. Ive been struggling for a couple of years now. Now Ive retired I find any depravation counter intuitive. I deserve to enjoy myself. However Im coming around to the idea that I deserve a long and healthy retirement. And if I can improve my chances of that by eating lots…

    • Tjay, “I find any deprivation counterintuitive”. I love the wording and we have to focus on deprivation and what we really want. We have to see what health choices we make as a gift we can give ourselves. In this country, we have to plow through piles of junk food to find healthy food. I hope it is easier where you are. I am so happy that…

  • Another fantastic book from Kristin Hannah. Id be interested to know how it would be received in America or Vietnam. As a Brit I found it very educating as I presume its well researched; I had a very superficial knowledge of the Vietnam War.

Also just a good read. Focuses on the women nursing in Vietnam during the war.

    • This sounds like one I’d enjoy reading @Tjay. I’ll add it to my wishlist 😉

      • I have memory of the Vietnam War but little was ever mentioned of the women or nurses in the War. I was a student during the time and know more about student protests and young men being drafted or going to Canada. The book should be I reliably informative.

    • This one is keeping me going. So much evidence for how the food we eat effects every system in our body. Half of the science is beyond me but its so motivating to just concentrate on eating so called speed and super foods. Its mainly ordinary foods, tomatoes, pommegranets, kiwis, berries and most green veg. But over 200 foods flagged up in…

    • So just two spoons short of finishing my morning weetabix on Friday. I see a maggot swimming in the milk at the bottowm of my bowl. He was yellow with a red head. Should have photographed him but I was a bit traumatised to be honest. It was a brand new box not down to my storage. So Ive eaten my weetabix ever, but it will stay with me a while.

      • OMG how awful!!

        • Most likely to be an Indian meal moth lava @Tjay but I didn’t know the little bugg*rs could swim ! Don’t let it put you off your Weetabix. Have you ever tried one spread with real butter and Marmalade – it’s scrumptious ! 😋

          • I wanted to be with my Grandmother as much as possible after her last fall. It has to be hard for you that you can’t be there with her. You have been on my mind. It would be nice if we could have ourselves cloned.

          • Well reporting back on the Link I posted re Dr Li. I lost 4lbs in week one. Not dramatic but I ate well & wasnt hungry. Gave the alcohol a break without missing it. Good week considering quite a stressful one when I could have used, food and drink to put weight on instead. I was busy which always helps but I was motivated to make smoothies…

          • Never start a controversal conversation whilst having your hair cut. Ive been to this lady before and had a perfectly good trim. However I shared that my mum is in hospital, fantastic care but terrible communication. She said tell me about it! And launched into the saddest story about a receptionist back in covid days, who insisted her Dad…

          • And so life moves on for us lucky ones. Im back in the UK again. My amazing Mum has a discharge date in sight. Spinal Brace off 1st September and discharge that week if all is well, looking good. 3 months in hospital, half of it flat on her back has not daunted her. She has had her moments 😱as have I 🤯but we march on. So I will be flitting…
