Finally all moved in. A lot of downsizing, estate sales and just giving stuff away. Hard to believe I accumulated so much stuff in 80+ years. Anyway all moved in to my 700 sq ft apartment. getting back to writing and worked on a few songs to start off the new life.

Dave glad to hear you are all moved in. When I retired in 2001 I sold my house here and bought a new condo with 2bedrooms, den. and 2 baths , laundry room and a furnace room . I have decided to move into an apartment at a independent senior living community. I am moving from 2700 sq ft to 730 sq ft. Some downsizing. This is going to be a busy month.

Good Luck. I down sized when I retired in 2001 and sold my ranch house and bought a brand new condominium which is 1,768 sq. feet. I had always owned a house and so downsizing into a smaller place, I had to get rid of some furniture that I gave to my children and also sold some things. I have been alone in this house for over a year now and find that I just sit in my recliner. I do have a caregiver visit every Wednesday to get me in a shower, clean a little and do the laundry. I am still looking at assisted living facilities and have trouble understanding the advantages and cost. I was wondering if anyone else has been through this process. So far I have visited four and the monthly cost is more than twice what it cost me to stay in the house. They all seemed surprised when I show them the number and I am not…

Perhaps a visiting care worker would be less costly. Somebody to cook, clean, drive, and help you do whatever you cannot do each day. Just a suggestion as I have no idea what the available funds or the expenses involved look like.

Great idea and I have looked into caregivers and the in home services. The care givers I found are listed on a web site called care.com. So far nobody available in the mornings I need.
