a kicked ball
So I’ll kick this ball into the ether with a simple question
Is happiness something we create or something that happens to us? Have you ever “decided” to be happy – and did it work?
feel free to expound with what ever matrix you feel comfortable with.

Is happiness a gift of fortune or a state of the soul, does it depend on what happens, or on how one stands in relation to what happens. Is it created or received? Found in events, or in judgment.

Andrea, I just posted an image about “happy” in Shoutbox and I think I will post it here. It says a lot.

@PollyPie I see you’re a Canadian too and you live close to the rockies. Well how about that! I spent a little more than a year living in Banff. Mostly in a tent. The challenge was the reason, and not enough money. Learned a lot about Bears and life in a tent. Banff is a national park so you can’t just pitch a tent anywhere, just in the…

I love Canada, but stay in their cities in their sturdy and beautiful structures in warm weather.

I’m not much for small talk. Or chit chat. But the other day sitting in a restaurant a little too close to two young women, late 20s i guess, I couldn’t help having to listen to their twaddle. And after every sentence the one or the other would give a little giggle. I didnt find anything remotely funny in whatever they talked about. The…

Well I mostly find an empty table in the pub, and (with my beer) plug myself in to some good music – using headphone / earpieces obviously – and engage here on SC. It works for me. Good music, good beer and good (online) company.

I usually have my emotional support dog with me. He attracts a lot of people because he is so cute. I get into conversations with other dog lovers a lot.

“Growing old is not for the young” . My mother of 93 years said that to me. She still stays by that!

A new hip.
Good evening all. Got another problem hovering on my horizon – needing a new left hip! It seems just about all the seniors on my street, especially the men, all have had a hip replacement and swear by it. So I’m wondering how many of you out there in the world have had a joint replaced and have no regrets? Especially my next door neighbour, he…

Hello there @Andreas I can only speak of my father’s experience. He suffered a TB hip as a boy and had always walked with a pronounced limp but, as the older generation
seemed to do, put up with it until in later life the discomfort became too much. I can only say the new hip revitalised his life ! The limp almost completely disappeared and…

Hi @Andreas My only experience is a fellow traveler we spent last winter with. She was 68. 3 years with a new hip. Hiking, swimming, paddle boarding. No limp no pain. Un believable, its a very physical life living on a boat and she had no problems at all.
