LONDON CRIPPLED- YET AGAIN

Here we go again.London paralyzed. Same rentamob infiltrating marches all over the world. Not only Central London crippled again but the City of London too.Nobody can go about their business in the areas because yet another “march”.Its just a day out in the smoke for a lot of them and I doubt if some could spell Democracy let alone know what it is. Then you see the same old famous faces that ALWAYS have an opinion on poverty and social issues, but forget to mention the fact they have a new book coming out/TV series and that because of their fame, their bank accounts are doing very well thank you.Oh yes and they lead a lavish lifestyle, a trait they try to hide by dressing down in torn denims and not putting a comb through their hair I totally support the right to march but somewhere along the line, the balance has shifted between the right to shut off streets, week, or even day after day, in Central London and the right of free passage of motorists and pedestrians going about their everyday life, that includes work, a word alien to some of these “protesters” . What is it now,” Corporate Greed”,”Social Injustice and Inequality” “Capitalism” blah blah. We have the Olympics here next year and a state of the art Stadium has been built. We have Wembley stadium, even the O2 arena Why can’t mass protesters “gather” in such stadiums?. They can be addressed properly and contained if/when violence breaks out. Who would pay for the use of such stadiums.? Well that would be a real bone of contention. Democracy works both ways. They can protest but get out of the way of people that don’t want to.

  1. Too right Way. Been a nightmare today trying to get around.Tomorrow’s another day, and then it all starts again.!!!!

  2. let the tubes and train take the strain illgner..ermmmm when they not on strike that is…Londoners have been ask to stay clear of tubes and london transport when the olympics are on are they going to give us wings or something..

  3. Maybe if this government stopped blaming previous governments and addressed
the rough shod way banks, and obscene salaries (no to mention gold plated pensions) are not mentioned. They punish hard working public sector workers and
rob them of a decent pension.

  4. Exactly Moggy. Not to mention the miles and miles of Olympic “games lanes” they intend to put on main arterial routes, CCTV fitted everywhere woe betide should you stray into the games lane. £200 instant fine. What a lovely payday that is! “Only” 18 days of inconvenience, we are told. This is a major capital city, an Island. We do not have massive five lane each way roads! Degsey, I completely agree with you about these banks and the obscene way pensions have been mishandled. There’s no doubt that years of Labour mismanagement of nearly everything they dealt with has landed us where we are, but this has to do with week after week after week having large demos in Central London non stop, where major routes and roads are shut off. That’s not to mention everyday events outside Embassies etc.We are fit to burst here !!!!!. The point is, we as ordinary Londoners, have our rights of free passage removed when this happens.Tube stations are closed off for renovation or maintenance as are major train works, rightly so. They have to do it sometime. How many times have you heard “London came to a standstill”. Not half as many times as it actually happens!

  5. i am not a sporty supporting person
The money that is spent on the Olimpic Games is scandelous, and the Londoners are asked to stay away from Public transport is utter stupidity
The money could have been used for more useful projects which the country needs
In my opinion the village should be used for the londoners living in poor housing, will they?
Hardley think so they will be sold off to the rich is what i think

  6. Sadly busy, I think you are going to be proved correct in what you say. I lived next to the river in Docklands all my life and when there were major regeneration plans after years and years of neglect, the housing was way out of reach for the everyday Londoner, especially as most were council tenants. The London Docklands Development Corporation even began to put plans through to build a heliport!. They were stupid enough to reveal that they were going to do this before announcing any other plans.Of course, they let the cat out of the bag. They gave the game away as to what kind of area they hoped to create and it was for the rich. Not many other people use helicopters to get to business meetings. After major protests, a large slice of property was rented to tenants. Later with Lady Thatchers plans, buying became more of a reality than a dream. Times have changed and people just cannot get on any type of property ladder so I really hope the village is given over to people who have proved to be decent reliable tenants. Like the Docklands, they have had to put up with this major regeneration for years. I along with you, just don’t think this will happen though.Money talks loudest.
