Listening to your body…..

“My body, like everything else in life, is a mirror of my inner thoughts and beliefs. Every cell responds to every single thought I think and every work I speak.”

I am dealing with a skin rash again, had one over a year ago. Last time I went through the process of trying to identify what was causing it. Changed detergent, shampoo, and looked at the medicine I was taking. I still had the rash. I then started to detox my body and eat better food. Skin got a little better. Until I started to look at what was bothering me, I continued to have it. I was stressed out! Oh… stress… the evil thing that will affect your body if you aren’t aware of it. Once I started addressing the stress and talking about it, my skin improved and the rash went away. Did I learn anything? Well, I have it coming back again and but this time I started my regiment early. I became aware of what my body was telling me.

If I ask myself if what I am stressing about is important, is it worthy of my stressing out, can anything be done about it, I usually find an answer that calms my spirit. So the rash is going away again, the house is not tidy, I am not making commitments I can’t keep, I laugh more, and let go of lots of unnecessary worrying.

Tomorrow I will wake up and do it all again…. until I don’t get a rash again and again. Peace will become a way of life.

  1. If you went to the doctor with a skin problem, they would mostly likely prescribe cream and pills to get rid of the problem.
I wish more doctors would look at some conditions like this with an open mind to find out the Cause.
Good on you Linda for your own investigative work 😀

  2. I have started to read about natural remedies and essential oils. I went to a Body and Soul Conference once and listened to a Culendura (spelling?) a person who practices medicine in Mexico. She talked about caring for the body, the mind and soul as a way to treat patients. @pollypie this is where I think Western doctors tend to treat just the body. I may start posting some natural remedies.

@grandmaj girl, if I listened to my stomach it would tell me to eat my weight in chocolate. I have to listen to one of many personalities. lol One of the mean ones! Want to borrow her? Her name is Nurse Kratchett.

  3. Thank you for sharing your story . When I thought of listening to my body, I snap, crackle and pop. Stress is a cause or worsens every part of us. I wrote a blog about the healing powers of laughter. Anything that bring fun and joy is good for you. Yoga is wonderful for stress. An engrossing activity like needle work or a project like crafts. I am going on and on. We need a blog on destressing. Linda, look closely at your life and focus on adding joy to your life. I wish you success with managing your rash and your stress.

  4. I wish I had seen this conversation and advice, many years ago.
When I was going thru my divorce (35 years back), I found I was getting all sorts of odd spots and eruptions on different parts of my body….I never associated the two,Stress and Spots/Rashes.
We live and learn !! Thankyou for your blog Linda. 🙂

  5. Thanks for comments and advice. I use laughter to lighten the stress.. I need to go back and read your blog on that @roseinbloom. It is an on going battle. I need to find a source of “chill bills”. lol

@cappuccino – divorce was one cause of my rash. But on the good side, I lost a bunch of weight. lol

  6. Good blog, liked it !
I may draw your attention ( Linda, grandmaj man , Rose and others )
to what is called as Affirmative prayer.
It is a sort of prayer or a technique of metaphysics which concentrates on the +ve outcome rather than on a -ve situation.
Supposing a person is undergoing some sort of illness.
He should focus the prayer on the desired state of good health and re affirm this desired aim “as if the cure has already happened” rather than identifying the illness , discussing it and then asking God for help to remove it .
Similarly, +ve imagination too has curative powers. Dream your rash while in deep meditation , visualize it….going,…going …and it is gone !
However, these rather subtle prayers and cures need absolute faith in the God and also quite some time and the expert training of the highest order to show quick results .
Anyway no harm in trying, and sharing the results with us !

  7. Food for thought meant for you grandmaj mam
As a teenager when I was in double mind, (on the subject of the existence of the God ), I asked one of my favorite teachers about his opinion on the subject.
He said : ” Supposing he did not exist, it is well and good.”
” Supposing he did, don’t you think he will mind it ! ”
Therefore, I took the safer option,
    Why don’t you ?
