Life Begins at 40
A popular expression that applied to me – I was running a small struggling Record Company in Colchester and supplied discs to a New Zealand Record Company in Wellington, and it was this company that approached me with an offer to move to New Zealand and take over their marketing and Recording Company which was operating throughout the South Pacific region.
Needless to say, I accepted their offer and within a matter of months, my wife and I were traveling to Wellington where I arrived in time to celebrate my 40th birthday. !!
, I traveled on their behalf for a little over 10 years during which time I visited almost every island in the South Pacific as well as Australia and the USA. I could tell many stories of the islands and their people, but suffice to say that there were some exciting times for me, and I hope with the performers I recorded during that period.
Now in my nineties, I still play with my recording equipment for my own pleasure but remember those great trips with great joy and remember that indeed, My Life did begin at 40!

You are so right Rose – I have been able to live what some people would regard as a wonderful hobby – and be paid for doing it! Indeed I still enjoy it every day.
