Lesson Learned?

A very busy few days away ended up with a lads night out in the pub. This might not be entirely unusual but on this occasion I noticed they had a Welsh cider on draught at the pump. This seemed like an opportunity not to be missed. It was very nice too, very very nice. Very very very nice indeed – and that was the problem. After losing count of how many, I then lost my footing on the way back to the house, and therefore my glasses, and some dignity as well as most likely gaining a cracked rib. Okay so I am completely 100% to blame, take it on the chin (or in my case the chest!) and chalk it up to experience. I definitely won’t be drinking that particular Welsh cider ever again because even as an experienced and seasoned drinker it crept up on me very suddenly after a few and whatever else usually happens I never lose control like what happened. Moral for me is, stick to what I know. My spare glasses will do until it’s time for my next appointment and renewal so that’s not a big issue. I’m nursing the rib though, which I will be doing for a few weeks, and a bit of a hit to my ego as well…ha ha! Oops!! 😂

  1. I saw your profile picture of a Guinness and thought that’s a man after my own ‘heart’….I’m off alcohol presently on doctors orders but your story reminded me of the many similar I’ve had…dam these Doc’s

      1. İ reside in Turkey. The Guiness is first class in my local bars despite travelling here. İt is pricey compared to other locally produced beers here but compared to Europe it is reasonable
I tried Guiness while I was home in 2024 and it was awful. My local is in the centre of Bournemouth in the UK so not the best place to gauge things.

        1. Some UK bars definitely don’t have very good Guinness. The two pubs closest to me for instance, which is why I’d rather walk the two miles into the next town for a first class pour – which is also cheaper as well ironically! 😂
