Just to say hi :)

I love to write. I can’t remember when I didn’t write. Many moons ago, when I was a kid growing up, I wrote poems and gave them to our pastor – he told me not long ago that he still has all of them, and that he has been thinking of getting them published as a gift to me.

My late husband bought me a website about 15 years ago. He said it was a way for me to keep in touch with kids, family and friends, as we had our adventures in life, love and laughter. When health became the master of our lives, he said he wanted me to get out of my comfort zone and be brutally honest in my blog. When I asked, “Why?” His answer was, “Because if just one person can learn from us or be encouraged in their own struggles and trials – then all of this will not have been in vain.”

It’s been harder to keep up with the website since he died, because he was the one that always believed in me, and in my writing. He was my editor-in-chief 😉 as well. The writings these 8 years has been dark, lonesome, full of memories – which includes tears and laughter. I am in the process of changing web hostings now. Not the easiest thing I have found out!

What do I write about?

. Growing older. Not for the faint of heart! But thankful for the opportunity for each day trip around the sun!

. Looking for fellow-travelers on this journey.

. Insecurities. We all have them!

. Accomplishments. We all have these too!

. Mists in my memories.

. Lessons learned as a widow.

. Loneliness. While I will try not to harp on this, it’s a real part of this journey in my life.

. The things I do to keep my mind, heart and hands busy – genealogy, quilting, reading, what I watch, where I go. . . . Times with the kids and grandkids.

. Hopes, dreams, ideas, and just basic thoughts as I drink my coffee!

What you won’t find in my writings:

. Politics. There are websites and blogs beyond all numbers that will take you down that road. I won’t.

. Religion. While I will include my relationship with God, I will not discuss the ins/outs of religion. Again, there are websites and blogs for that, and I have chosen not to use my website, nor my blogs, for those discussions.

I am looking forward to reading your blogs, and getting to know y’all!

  1. Hello CoffeeLove,
I admire your skill and ability in mastering your P.C. ,putting up photographs for example, beats me, I dont even know what a ‘Blog’ is. This is my very first attempt to talk to someone in a Chat Room, I expect it shows. When I say its the first attempt that’s not strictly true since I erased my first offering when I scrolled up to read more about you.
However, I digress, I am very old and have daughters not much younger than you but I still have all my marbles and try to keep active both in the garden in caring for my dogs. I am well travelled and have lived and worked in many parts of the world.
Thats about me for starters, hope you come back.

    1. You sound very interesting! I would love to chat with you! What I have learned about the PC, whether pictures or blogs – pretty much all self-taught. Mostly getting myself in a mess, and finding my way out! Ha/ha

      1. May I ask in what State you live and which town or city, gives me a better picture of you. I live in Oxfordshire in the countryside, our house is by the river Thames. Oxford is not too far away, this evening my daughter and grand daughter have driven in to go to the cinema..

          1. Thanks for that CoffeeLove, years ago I spent some time in Colorado, went there every year for a while. The parents of a Buddy of mine had a place in an old mining town called Creed, I loved every minute. Lost touch with my Buddy but I think he retired in Fort Worth, not that sure but it definately was Texas. Those were the days, such happy memories..
I’m glad you like rivers, what’s not to like? ever changing with the seasons but always beautiful.

  2. Hi CoffeeLove.
I am not a blogger, but a lover of writing since my middle-school days. It started actually with my love for reading; Shakespeare & many of the classic poets, Emily Dickinson & Ralph Waldo Emerson being my favorites. In fact I developed a wistful, almost forlorn style of poetry akin to Emily’s and for a long time I desired to be published, but my work seemed too painfully personal. I have not written anything in years, but I deeply enjoy the writings of others in whatever form. I look forward to seeing your offerings here.

  3. i too, look forward to your offerings here. as someone who has also done alot of “dark” writing thru hard times, i understand the spilling of pain onto blank pages. insecurities…oy! getting older…yep. i look forward to yor thoughts on all these things.
