Just a rant!

I am sick and tired of thieving politicians who preach about being frugal in this time of austerity but who have NEVER reduced their pay or their standards of living. They would never sacrifice their expenses or taken on extra duties for the same pay and they are guaranteed their wage no matter how little they work. They are bleeding the working class dry constantly wanting more for less and expecting us to sacrifice everything for the sake of this sick country. They cut back social payments for the sick and disabled, they make us pay more for our housing, they believe its right for someone to travel 2 hours to work on top of a 40 hour week making time spent away from home in excess of 60 hours a week and those travelling pay for the honour of using a substandard privatised service. They are corrupting our health service handing out payments for doctors to withdraw treatment. They are stealing our children’s education including closing libraries – knowledge is power but its not the working class children and youths who have access to that knowledge. They tell us 5 portions of fruit and veg a day is essential for good health yet for the first time in my lifetime there is a need for food banks. People, even those working cannot afford to feed themselves. All this is just the tip of the iceberg.
When are the british working class going to start fighting back?
Are we ever going to fight or are we going to lie down and die?

  1. You’re describing the US government too.
What was once known as the best healthcare in the world, we now have obamacare. If obamacare
is so terrific, I wonder why Congress is exempting itself? Sadly it’s not just the British people. Simple answer is if government can create dependency they have full control of a people. Americans are now more dependent on government than ever. This will not end until “we the people” collectively stand up and take back what belongs to us.

  2. I agree and I think we should all do what the French do when their government does something they don’t like. Take to the streets and riot.

I know that’s not normally part of the British personality, or the American come to that, but perhaps it should be.

I quote one line of sense from an otherwise very silly film:-
“People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people”

  3. Americans do protest, THE WORLD TRADE conference was surrounded by protestors and shut it down in 1999. Siege of Wallstreet is once again gaining ground. Our Constitution prohibits non-peaceful demonstrations. My thought here is that it no longer is limited to the USA. All rational thought is world wide. We’re all in this together.. Get a few college students together…..OH that’s right college tuition has escalated to the point of no return. It costs too much to attend college. So our young people must act like serfs working themselves to death just to breath. Interesting topic.

    1. Leaders? If you mean the idiots who run the country? I do say it to them bloom and often. Sadly those morons have people who vet their letters/emails and the politicians only ever get to hear what they want to hear

  4. Rose, protests are happening on a regular basis about the cuts in benefits etc……….we are not just sitting back and bemoaning our lot…………violence and rioting we do not need……..this achieves nothing… tell me what strategy is being used in your country to make the government bend…………using students is a BIG NO NO………why should they end up being arrested with a police conviction on record………if peaceful demonstration are working in your country ok……..dealing with a different government here i’m afraid

  5. I agree about violence and rioting not being the answer. Actions speak louder than words. Strategies such as ‘work to rule’ and the mass withholding of council taxes does work. I was very actively involved in the anti poll tax union and have also been very much involved in the bringing down of the Liverpool Care Pathway. Also I have been an avid supporter of the The Justice for the 96 Hillsborough campaign … I was there the day the message got through loud and clear to Andy Burnham (politician), that the people of Liverpool and the families of the Hillsborough victims wanted The Truth to be told and I am proud to say that I still never buy the scum tabloid (the sun) and sabotage their sales in anyway I can :

    Mass protest does work

  6. Carol, I support you in your ‘Rant’. I feel angrier than I’ve felt in years about what’s happening in our country. The poorest sections of our society are bearing the brunt of the cuts, and it’s unfair. Basically most of the members of our government are from wealthy backgrounds and have no understanding of how ordinary people have to live. They talk as if food banks are a ‘choice’ for people, an easy way to exist when in fact they are a necessity.
People have long memories- they must use their votes to make their protest.

  7. Carol well said i agree with everything u said, our goverment is terrible, they line there own pockets they don’t care about the disabled, and the poor people ,they promise everything when they want ur votes, thats where we should voice it, mazie got it right there, all the mp’s employ there own familes, have 2 homes, claim for everything , and we pay it, They don’t have a clue how ordinary people live, it makes my blood boil, one day it will change for the better because it can’t carry on like this, im with the mass holding of council tax ..trouble is everyone should do it …..no good just a few , everyone has to refuse to pay it..what could they do put us all in prison!!!!

    1. Well said Cath. With the anti poll tax union there were solicitors from the CAB working voluntary at the courts. It was scarey when you got the court summons (as we were advised the only bill you can go to prison for refusing to pay is the council/poll tax) So it was scarey but when we arrived at court we seen lots of friends and neighbours in the waiting room. The solicitors advised us not to refuse to pay but to make a small offer of payment. I left with an attachment of earnings without ever facing the magistrate and I am proud to say the poll tax was abolished 🙂
