Incy Wincy….wher’d u go!!!

As most probably know I don’t often write blogs…but can’t let this one go, I am seriously in need of help, maybe a stiff drink or something!!!!!!
Last night around 11pm, i went into my bathroom, and there on my pile of neatly folded clean towels, was the biggest spider I have ever seen in my whole life, except in captivity. Panick??/ i nearly wet myself…thats what I went in bathroom for in first place. Ran into kitchen, got a tumbler, knocked spider off towels and captured it under tumbler while I decided upon my plan of action, ooohh perhaps I should add, it was so big one of its legs got stuck under the rim of the tumbler. Back I go into living room to think what to do? at 11.30 by now to late to call the Fire Brigade!!!!, was not totally convinced it was not strong enough to get out from under the tumbler, its body was as big as a smartie…..so put a weight on top of glass. Couldnt come up with a plan of action, so decided to leave it until the morning, managed to give it a breath of air before I went to bed. Daren’t switch the light off, in case its mate came looking for it! didnt get any sleep. Got up around 5am, tiptoed very cautiously into bathroom, an absolute nervous wreck by now, was there any neighbour I could call on? no, don’t think so, don’t know them well enough, and it is only 5am….. all was still in the glass, i slightly lifted the rim, it made a dash for escape….oh yikes, what now? called Ernie, he laughed, knew he would!!!! this was not funny, he asked if I really wanted him to drive 110 miles to come and sort it, I answered in the affirmative, but then decided not a good idea, poor thing could well be dead by then!!!! so had a strong coffee, and decided I had to do something, managed to slide an envelope under the glass, that wasnt going to be strong enough and was quiverring so much myself was bound to drop it before I got outside. Escape route planned, outside door propped wide open, bathroom door half open, slipped a solid placemat under the envelope…roxy was very excited with the whole adventure, and off we went, as far as I dare go down the front garden bearing in mind i was in jimjams and nothing else!!!!!
The release was very scarey, and took me 5 minutes to pluck up the courage…but I did it and it dashed off down the street, pushing the button to the pedestrian crossing as it went!!!!!!
I am a quivering wreck….please lord, i didnt kill it, though it was accidently minus one leg, it seemed to run perfectly well in spite of its amputation, please keep it going in the opposite direction to my house, because if it should decide to come back (to look for its leg) that is it, me finished!!!!!

so friends, should you not see me around here again, you will know what has happened!!!!!

  1. Well Annie, I don’t know about there…but here in Australia a smartie its slightly larger than a shirt button. which its not that huge at all! I guess incy may have had very long legs that made it look much larger and scarier that it really was!
Saying all that…I may add that I’m very proud of you to have managed to take the spider out in the garden without squashing it!
    Good on you Annie! xxx

  2. Dear Annie – scary for you – we are currently sharing our home with a very large spider who appears in different rooms at different times, and occasionally has a barney with the cat (you can hear the cat scooting around the rooms trying to round it up). It’s got to the stage of thinking of her as a family member!! As long as she keeps her distance, we are holding a truce.

  3. Thank you for your comments everyone….. Nelly i just couldnt hold a truce with this one, i just knew that if i let it out from under the glass, it was going to run the 4 minute mile!!!!! probably straight into my bedroom!!!! you should see me right now, i open the bathroom door slightly and conduct a thorough investigation b4 i dare enter!!!!! lol

  4. hi annie,i dont usually even look on blogs ,sometimes i do to read the jokes when the chat room is empty, and i came across ur spider horror lolol, well!!! im the same i really dont like them, but ur story made me laugh so had to write and tell u lololol ..cath xx

  5. Annie , Well this story was funny but spiders are scarey and glad you were able to catch it and take it outside. I am like Kat when I see a spider in my house I kill it . I have a device that I have pluged into the electrical outlet that puts out a sound in the walls that keeps mice, bugs and spiders away and it works.
