BLOG Writing Cinchy and Sugar Coated

BLOG Writing Cinchy and Sugar Coated

I know you are going to say some CURSE words. LOL. GO TO HELL, comes to mind , but it JUST DAWNED on me that I WRITE BLOGS and know next to NOTHING about it. The Cursing is due because I do know that the only real RULE ALLOWED here is that we DO IT OUR WAY. My WAY is to EXPERIMENT as I GO.

Well, I am NOT going to try to do a TREATISE on the subject, but I will share some TIDBITS that I found HELPFUL.

The Title needs to DESCRIBE and GRAB a READER.

Make BLOG SHORT and STICK to the POINT.

Make it CONVERSATIONAL.

It needs to be SCANNABLE

INTRODUCE and then CONCLUDE.

EDIT, EDIT, EDIT for all the above and MORE.

SOME of blog writing we have LEARNED, but COMPUTERS have CHANGED the WRITING game. LIKE what is SCANNABLE? A person expects to GRASP a lot by just doing a QUICK SCAN, so you need to do TRICKS like caps, bold face, bullets to make that possible. HERE we have limitation with that.

CONVERSATIONAL means that you pretend you are actually TALKING to a person. That seems SIMPLE, but can we do it? I still need to STUDY that MORE.

EDIT is so important, because you WORK longer and harder, so your READER WILL READ enough to get your MESSAGE.

Well, I got to RUN now, but I will EDIT as soon as I get time, so hope you will ABIDE with me and that this blog writing experiment doesn’t explode on me; and that you may even find it USEFUL. Please don’t tell me to GO TO HELL. I fear that I am well ON MY WAY. LOL

  1. What I do find Rose is that some words are lost in translation, same words but different meanings in other countries, but by and large we sort out any mix ups. think the title is what grabs me first……….wouldn’t read too much in how to write a blog, you do ok as you are, why change a format that works, could become too complicated, and I do not think for one moment anyone will tell you to go to hell, or that is where you will end up…….what a thing to say….lol xx

  2. Starlette, thank you. People are very nice here and supportive, but also there are those who have a different opinion, maybe and they are entitled to their opinion.
Hell and all that is said with an LOL,

  3. I enjoyed your blog Rose…..I do agree with Star, sometimes I say things that in other countries, other than Aust, it means something different. In the end we all get it. I found reading your blog bought a smile to my face…thank you.

    1. Lani, hugs and kisses to you for the compliment. Lani, you do just fine. Did I use a word that may need a translation. You and Starlette mentioned something about various word meanings. Cinchy is something that may be hard for other but it is made easy or is easy for you. I don’t usually use colloquialisms because they do make writing sound more real and conversational.
I love to learn idioms and slang so just ask if you are confused. I think I know what an aussie means by “sheila”.

  4. Sure this is tounge in cheek Bloom … you are one of the most creative bloggers here, often I find myself writing something i,m sure has a different connotation in another’s country…sorry folks if when and where I do…
I disregard any of the set rules , and just write as I would speak to another, works for me …xxx

    1. Debbie, I am so happy I brought a smile to your face; I consider that a great compliment if I can have a boring subject that makes you smile. That was my whole purpose; write in a way that it is easy and makes you smile as you read it. I so very much do appreciate your comment.
