HOLD the Purse TIGHT

HOLD the Purse TIGHT

I went to get my hair done yesterday and my stylist told me ALL about having her WALLET ROBBED, She was getting into the trunk of her car, a woman came by and said something and a man SNEAKED up and got the WALLET out of the purse. The purse was open and only closes with a snap. She was in a safe area and it was 3 pm on a bright sunny day. I hope this makes everyone a lot more careful. HOW CAREFUL are YOU with your PURSES or WALLETS?

I just woke up from a dream of having had my purse taken and it FELT SO AWFUL to have NO PURSE and I was also traveling and I made a phone call and no one answered. That made it even worse. Most of us carry our PHONES IN IN OUR PURSES and some of us may not even know KNOW OUR PHONE NUMBERS. I think you get the picture. I also sat trying to remember the banks attached to my credit cards and wondered where I would find the phone numbers. I should have made copies and put them in a safe.

Before I FORGET this awful feeling of having my PURSE STOLEN, I will take some reasonable steps in case it HAPPENS and I will start being a lot MORE CAREFUL.

I am still WONDERING how CAREFUL SHOULD I BE? How CAREFYL are YOU? I am thinking of getting the little secret wallet made for putting UNDER my clothes. Do you think that is EXTREME? Other people don't do that here. I know no one that does it. UNhappily, as we get older, we become more of a target. I WILL be more careful. Oh, I hope I don’t fforget all about this as soon as I shake off that BAD DREAM feeling. It WAS an AWFUL FEELING. IMAGINE being out, alone and all of a sudden NO PURSE or NO WALLET.

  1. Hello Rose, well I think the time of day is irrelevant to an opportunitist or an organised thief……..yes we have to be very conscious of the fact that there are many thugs out there looking for an opportunity to steal our possessions, I know of one elderly lady having her bag snatched out of her hand as the thief ran behind her,she never even saw him from the front……..its good to keep a copy of telephone numbers re bank contact numbers ………but I would say carry as least as possible with you, your house keys,a little money and no cards if possible especially in the evening, not likely to be going on a spending spree then……also be careful when drawing money out from the outside bank dispensers, lots have also been relieved of their money this way also….

  2. Starlette, Thank you for your comment. Not carrying credit cards may save us from impulse buying. LOL. If we carry less money, we will spend less money. I am thinking about putting the cards in the secret wallet. Remember where women used to keep the cash. We have gotten careless.

  3. Today I was with my mate at his narrow boat and later we left to pass to where my car was, his friend, who is another fellow boater and we were talking to each other about his boat etc. I notice that his phone with case attached and it had his visa cards and driving license in slots on the case, I said to his mates friend, “That is a rather stupid place to have cards stuck in slots surely it would be in a more secure place in a wallet in his inner coat.” No his friend said, “It is always with me with the phone.” Well to me a phone is in its case not meant to have a stack of cards for all and sundry to peruse, most thieves are opportunist and it just taken seconds to lift them equally lifted from women, who are distracted by all sorts of manner children and babies in shop trolley’s and loaded them in their car, how many have lost wallets, purses or phones during this distraction. Touch wood I have not lost a phone yet, but it is so easy to lift it from the table just by a person sitting on a bench by a pub or cafe distracted by another person on the table to chat.
I am sorry if my mates friend is stupid to sit around thinking it is secure then he deserves it to lose it, how careless can one be. All it takes a little thought of awareness with your property. people always be aware where your property is, better to be safe than the headache of going through all the phones, banking even house keys. …. KEEP SAFE ALWAYS….

  4. Bloom , so pleased you placed this blog here,3 years ago i was the target of a woman who was riding a pushbike on the foortpath behind me,she grabbed my handbag from behind, luckily for me my taiqwondo kicked in and i high kicked her bike, she went to the footpath with a crash , I jumped on top of her and pushed her arm up her back as one does, and sat on her until a passer by rang the police, needless tosay she was arrested, her case came to court 2 years later ,meanwhile for two years she harrassed me where I lived throwing filth at my windows, standing outside my townhouse pulling face daily , with a shirt with big “print bring it on….” written on it , The policewoman that was handling my case told me this woman she was inher 40.s I might add, had previously stolen half a million Dollars froma weelknow politician in Melbourne only 6 months previously a few months before , after her prison term was shortened she was let out on bailand came to our town, we do not know what criminals are moving around from town to town even woman of that age …anyway she was eventually tried for her attack upon me , rem meber she came off second best in the altercation , but the hell she put me through on an almost daily basis had the Police move me from my beautiful new townhouse becasue of her tomylittle cottage i was lucky enough to inherit about that time , so I WAS SECRETLY
moved overnight to the other side of our city… I dread to think whatcould have happened when she attacked me on the street coming up behind me on a bike
Had I not had many years of a self defence course, I urge all woman to go and learn self defence especially young teenage girls …I was fortunate that my niece is a policewoman and she organised self defence taiqwondo.. to all interested ladies , we are living in a different society today, where unemployment and drugs are causing these people to commit crimes upon other persons ,so please do learn self defence , usually there are many DO JO,S where one can learn self defence …. this woman by the way got two years anger management ,$2.000 fine and 2 years good behaviour bond , with a threat if she came before the judge again she would be incarcerated …

      1. What a terrible, terrible experience, I cannot imagine. I don’t see why they gave her credit for good behavior, since she had continued to be a huge problem for you. She should have been incarcerated THEN. Seems the only reason she continued to harass you was because she knew she wouldn’t be jailed. That’s more than unfortunate.

        1. BERTA thanks for your interest but in this country the police do their work and aprehend but the court system is so weak towards criminals and thats why Australia is becoming a criminals paradise… they get chance after chance after chance ,community based orders and anger management thats seems to be the go in Victoria where I live , crime is up 60% in the past 12 months …..

      2. Yes CAPPUCCINO, and they never found any of the money she stole from our politician she was housekeepr for either ,yet she dirves around town in a nearly new car…why havn’t they confiscated the car and sell it and pay back her previous vicitm, the law here is an ass Cappuccino . if you could have seen the bruises I sustained in that altercation , that the police took pictures of on me .. they only get their wrists slapped thesed days and go out and do worse …..

  5. thanks Bloom , we do have to learn how to defend ourselves, especially in this country , one does not know especially living one hour from a big city travelling around, we have had so many people move here to my town, from the city, we never know who they are any more….
Our Justice system often fails the victim here, the judges and Magistrates give
criminals 1 and 2 year bonds over and over again , becasue our few jails that we have are all full of drug dealers and addicted people.. the Police do the work and have a good record of aressts but when they go to court ,they continuosly are let out on Bail or community orders to reoffend ,,It can also take 2,3, up to 5 years to get them into a courtroom .. meanwhile they are in the community causing more havoc … this is my state of Victoria i am unsure of other states statistics…

  6. Another thing to always do….lock your car doors while driving!!! Many years ago I had a woman (complete stranger) get into my car at a stop sign. She needed a ride downtown. Fortunately she wasn’t a robber. My ex never understood why I always locked my car doors. Just the other day, there was a man who was robbed at a stop sign. Three men got into his front and back seats. They got took his wallet, phone and laptop. LOCK YOUR DOORS!!!!

    1. Great advice candy , the Asian young men in our city of Melbourne ride around in cars looking for fights with machettes hidden in their cars ,they pull up at stop signs and goad the oppposite driver into a fight and hit them with their machettes , it’s bad in the cities here ,great warning Candy ….

      1. Oh lani ! Goodness gracious me ! I feel so blessed that I don’t watch TV or read newspapers …I’m totally oblivious of what might be happening around me !
I must admit I never had a bad encounter of any kind ,so far ….And I live 5km from Melbourne CBD .

  7. After reading all that…..advice ….DONT go to Australia and in particular..keep your ‘machete’ hidden…beware of ladies called lani….and don’t ride your bike on the pavement!!……LOL…LOL…LOL

    1. Well you may joke Saffy, My provincial city has the worst crime statstics in Victoria in the last year, Statistics 2o14-2015… Policing records… we do not have enough Jails,, and the law is so weak here that criminals are getting away with bond after bond after bond by the Magistrates, I only hope that all of you do not experience what i did at the hands of that mad woman …….
The new drug “Ice” is causing mayhem in Australia at the minute , our Government has formed a new drug squad just to try and control the dealers of this dangerous substance….I t certainly is no light hearted matter… especially if you are the one assaulted…..

  8. Thanks for all the comments. I do hope that all of you take a little more notice of your purses and wallets. I would add that the Police do not recommend that you fight over your belongings. A lot of these people can be really mean and violent.
