Grandchildren and immortality

I became a grandmother through no prayers, or beseeches, or influence of any kind on my part. Yet it now gives me some comfort to know that a part of me lives in them. I see myself and I see my influence and I know that my essence will not be lost and I find that quite comforting. It may be highly egotistical, but I believe that my genes are worthy and will be beneficial to happiness and survival of future generations. This is the only immortality in which I believe. So how many other grandparents feel this way?

  1. Rose i never looked on it that way,but in myself i see the sense of humour i inherited from my dad………..and in my son, daughter and grandson i see my humour they have inherited from me……….and that is something that benefits us and other’s while we are still here………so hopefully when i depart from this mortal coil, someone in the future generation will have had the good sense to have inherited the humour……….it stands you in good steed for all situations………….as for immortality………yes i like to believe there is something elsewhere……………and if God has a real sense of humour he will have created a chat site so that we may carry on laughing .x

    1. Starlette, It PAYS to be “a tight buger”. and I was joking about your pic with the purse firmly gripped and in front of you. When I went to live in the City of Chicago,I was taught by a Dutch Uncle type man how to carry my purse, over my shoulder and in front of me. I applaud the tight grip of your purse. Needs to be passed along. yeah, sure does.

  2. Aha Rose, the translation hiccup……….you say purse, we say handbag……..and the reason i was hugging the handbag close was because it was hiding a 6 month baby bump……….money i like to spend of course………but do not squander it willy nilly……….oh nooooo .lol
